6.3.6.6 M a c h i n e r y a n d m a c h i n e r y e l e m e n t s , f o r
w h i c h t h e remote c o n t r o l is provided, shall be
manually operated f r o m t h e local position. T h e
failure o f a n y element o r the w h o l e remote c o n t r o l
system shall n o t affect adversely t h e n o r m a l operation o f the anchor machinery a n d equipment
m a n u a l l y operated f r o m t h e local p o s i t i o n (refer also
t o 5.1.3, P a r t X I " E l e c t r i c a l E q u i p m e n t " ) .

6.4.2 O v e r l o a d p r o t e c t i o n .
I f the m a x i m u m torque o f the drive m a y bring
about a larger load o n t h e m o o r i n g machinery
e l e m e n t s t h a n t h a t specified i n 6.4.4, a n o v e r l o a d
protection shall be provided.
6.4.3 B r a k e .
6.4.3.1 T h e m o o r i n g m a c h i n e r y s h a l l b e p r o v i d e d
w i t h a n automatic brake ensuring a hold, w i t h o u t a
s l i p o n t h e m o o r i n g l i n e a t a p u l l e q u a l t o 1,5 t i m e s
the rated o n e w h e n t h e d r i v i n g energy disappears o r
the d r i v i n g engine fails.
6.4.3.2 T h e m o o r i n g m a c h i n e r y d r u m s h a l l b e
provided w i t h a brake, a braking torque o f w h i c h shall
ensure k e e p i n g t h e m o o r i n g l i n e f r o m u n r e e l i n g a t a
p u l l i n t h e l i n e e q u a l t o 0,8 t i m e s t h e b r e a k i n g l o a d o f
the line o n t h e first rope w i n d i n g layer o n t h e d r u m .
T h e force applied t o t h e brake drive handle shall
n o t exceed 7 4 0 N .
I f the d r u m is fitted w i t h a n arresting o r other
safety d e v i c e , t h e p o s s i b i l i t y s h a l l b e p r o v i d e d f o r
disengaging t h e d r u m b y a n approved means w h e n
the m o o r i n g cable is u n d e r t h e load.
6.4.4 S t r e n g t h c a l c u l a t i o n .
6.4.4.1 T h e m o o r i n g m a c h i n e r y e l e m e n t s s i t u a t e d
i n lines o f force f l o w shall be checked f o r strength
under the rated pull o n the m o o r i n g d r u m . I n this
case, t h e r e f e r e n c e stresses i n t h e e l e m e n t s s h a l l n o t
exceed 0AR
o f the element material.
6.4.4.2 T h e e l e m e n t s o f t h e m o o r i n g m a c h i n e r y
and t h e elements o f its fastening t o f o u n d a t i o n shall
be c h e c k e d f o r s t r e n g t h u n d e r t h e effect o f t h e
m a x i m u m torque o fthe drive a n d w h e n the d r u m is
affected b y a n e f f o r t e q u a l t o b r e a k i n g force o f t h e
m o o r i n g cable.
Besides, t h e s t r e n g t h o f t h e w a r p i n g d r u m s h a f t
under the load applied i n the middle o f its length,
equal t o t h e b r e a k i n g force o f the m o o r i n g cable shall
be c h e c k e d .
I n a l l a b o v e - m e n t i o n e d cases, t h e stress i n t h e
e l e m e n t s s h a l l n o t e x c e e d 0,95R o f t h e e l e m e n t
material.
T h e strength o f the m o o r i n g m a c h i n e r y elements
shall a l l o w f o r a l l possible k i n d s a n d geometrical
directions o f t h e loads t h a t m a y arise d u r i n g
operation.
T h e strength o f the m o o r i n g rope intended f o r
operation w i t h t h e m o o r i n g machinery shall be
indicated o n the machinery.
6.4.5 A u t o m a t i c m o o r i n g w i n c h e s .
6.4.5.1 T h e p e r f o r m a n c e c h a r a c t e r i s t i c s a n d
durability o f the automatic m o o r i n g winches shall
n o t be inferior t o the similar-purpose non-automatic
machinery.
6.4.5.2 A u t o m a t i c w i n c h e s s h a l l b e e q u i p p e d w i t h
the m a n u a l c o n t r o l t o provide t h e possibility o f n o n automatic operation.

6.4.1 D r i v e .

6.5 T O W I N G

WINCHES

6.5.1 W h e r e a u t o m a t i c d e v i c e s a r e u s e d f o r
governing t h e tension o f the towline, p r o v i s i o n shall
be m a d e t o e n a b l e c h e c k i n g t h e v a l u e o f t e n s i o n a t
every m o m e n t . T h e tension indicators shall be
installed a t t h e t o w i n g w i n c h a n d o n t h e bridge.
F o r pull measuring i t is recommended t o install
sensors w i t h electric o u t p u t signal.
6.5.2 S o u n d w a r n i n g a l a r m o p e r a t i n g w h e n t h e
m a x i m u m permissible length o f the t o w l i n e is veered
o u t o r visual m o n i t o r i n g shall be provided. I t is
recommended t o install a towline counter.
6.5.3 T h e d r u m s o f t h e t o w i n g w i n c h e s s h a l l
c o m p l y w i t h t h e r e q u i r e m e n t s o f 6.1.6 a n d shall be
p r o v i d e d w i t h f a i r l e a d s ( a p a r t f r o m t h e cases o f u s i n g
a t o w line o f reduced l e n g t h i n accordance w i t h 5.6.1
of Part I I I "Equipment, Arrangements and Outfit").
I f t w o o r m o r e d r u m s are provided, the fairleads shall
be i n d e p e n d e n t . R o p e d r u m s h a l l b e f i t t e d w i t h a
coupling t o ensure its disconnection f r o m the d r i v i n g
machinery.

G e o m e t r i c a l dimensions o f the w i n c h heads shall


provide the possibility for paying out o f the towline.
6.5.4 T h e d e s i g n o f t h e w i n c h s h a l l p r o v i d e f o r
q u i c k r e l e a s i n g o f t h e d r u m i n o r d e r t o e n s u r e free
p aying-out o f the t o w i n g line.
6.5.5 B r a k e s .
6.5.5.1 T h e t o w i n g w i n c h e s s h a l l b e p r o v i d e d
w i t h a n a u t o m a t i c brake ensuring h o l d i n g o f a line a t
a p u l l e q u a l t o a t l e a s t 1,25 t i m e s t h e r a t e d o n e w h e n

7.1 G E N E R A L

7.1.1 C o n n e c t i n g o f h y d r a u l i c s t e e r i n g g e a r
pipelines a n d those o f the h y d r a u l i c p o w e r systems
o f C P P t o o t h e r h y d r a u l i c systems is n o t p e r m i t t e d .
C o n n e c t i n g o f pipelines o f the e n g i n e - r o o m t r u n k
closures h y d r a u l i c drive systems t o o t h e r h y d r a u l i c
systems is n o t p e r m i t t e d .
I n passenger ships a n d special p u r p o s e ships, the
c o n n e c t i o n o f the pipeline systems o f power-operated
s l i d i n g w a t e r t i g h t d o o r s t o o t h e r h y d r a u l i c s y s t e m s is
not permitted.
7.1.2 W h e r e t h e p i p e l i n e s e r v i c i n g h y d r a u l i c
anchor machinery is connected t o other hydraulic
system pipelines, the latter shall be serviced b y t w o
separate p u m p u n i t s , each o f w h i c h shall ensure the
a n c h o r gear o p e r a t i o n w i t h n o m i n a l p u l l a n d a t
n o m i n a l h e a v i n g - i n speed.
7.1.3 T h e h y d r a u l i c s y s t e m f a i l u r e s h a l l n o t c a u s e
the failure o f machinery o r arrangement.
7.1.4 F l u i d s t o b e u s e d i n t h e h y d r a u l i c s y s t e m s
s h a l l b e selected w i t h r e g a r d t o t e m p e r a t u r e c o n d i tions t h a t m a y occur d u r i n g o p e r a t i o n (refer t o
T a b l e 2.3.1-2, P a r t V I I " M a c h i n e r y I n s t a l l a t i o n s " ) .
7.1.5 I n p a s s e n g e r s h i p s a n d s p e c i a l p u r p o s e
ships, t h e h y d r a u l i c systems o f p o w e r - o p e r a t e d
sliding watertight doors m a y be centralized o r
independent f o r each door.
T h e centralized systems shall be p r o v i d e d w i t h a
low-level a l a r m for hydraulic fluid reservoirs serving
t h e s y s t e m a n d a l o w gas p r e s s u r e a l a r m f o r h y d r a u l i c
accumulators. O t h e r effective m e a n s o f m o n i t o r i n g
loss o f s t o r e d e n e r g y i n h y d r a u l i c a c c u m u l a t o r s m a y
be p r o v i d e d . T h e s e a l a r m s s h a l l be a u d i b l e a n d v i s u a l
and shall be situated o n the operating console a t the
n a v i g a t i o n bridge.
T h e centralized systems shall be designed t o
m i n i m i z e the possibility o f a failure i n the operation
o f m o r e t h a n o n e d o o r caused b y d a m a g e t o a single
part o f the system.
A n independent h y d r a u l i c system f o r each sliding
w a t e r t i g h t d o o r s h a l l h a v e a l o w gas p r e s s u r e g r o u p
a l a r m o r o t h e r e f f e c t i v e m e a n s o f m o n i t o r i n g loss o f
stored energy i n hydraulic accumulators, situated a t
the operating console o n the n a v i g a t i o n bridge. Loss
o f stored energy i n d i c a t i o n shall be p r o v i d e d a t each
local control station.
Besides, the h y d r a u l i c systems o f p o w e r - o p e r a t e d
sliding w a t e r t i g h t d o o r s i n passenger ships a n d
special p u r p o s e ships s h a l l c o m p l y w i t h the requirem e n t s o f 7.12.5.7, P a r t I I I " E q u i p m e n t , A r r a n g e ments and Outfit".

7.3.2 T h e w o r k i n g f l u i d f r o m t h e s a f e t y
valve shall be led t o the d r a i n pipeline o r t o the o i l
tank.
7.3.3 A r r a n g e m e n t s f o r c o m p l e t e a i r e x p u l s i o n
w h e n filling the machinery and the pipeline w i t h the
w o r k i n g fluid, as w e l l as f o r leakage replenishment
and drainage shall be provided.
7.3.4 T h e h y d r a u l i c s y s t e m s s h a l l b e p r o v i d e d
w i t h the filters o f appropriate capacity a n d filtration
purity o f the w o r k i n g fluid.

8.1

G E N E R A L

8.1.1 R e q u i r e m e n t s o f t h e S e c t i o n a p p l y t o m a i n
a n d a u x i l i a r y m a r i n e gas t u r b i n e s o f 1 0 0 k W p o w e r
a n d a b o v e . A p p l i c a t i o n o f t h e s e r e q u i r e m e n t s t o gas
t u r b i n e s o f less t h a n 1 0 0 k W p o w e r w i l l be a g r e e d b y
t h e R e g i s t e r i n e a c h case.
The present requirements cover converted airc r a f t , m a r i n e a n d s t a t i o n a r y gas t u r b i n e s , i f i n s t a l l e d
a b o a r d sea-going ships.
T h e f i e l d o f a p p l y i n g t h e gas t u r b i n e s c o v e r e d b y
t h e p r e s e n t r e q u i r e m e n t s i s as f o l l o w s :
displacement ships, high-speed craft;
d y n a m i c a l l y s u p p o r t e d ships;
mobile offshore drilling units ( M O D U ) and fixed
offshore platforms ( F O P ) .
8.1.2 D e s i g n o u t p u t refers t o design c o n d i t i o n s , i.e.
sp ecified v a l u e s o f a m b i e n t a i r a n d w a t e r t e m p e r a tures, air h u m i d i t y , atmospheric pressure a n d exhaust
a n d s u c t i o n r e s i s t a n c e a d o p t e d f o r gas t u r b i n e d e s i g n .
I t is r e c o m m e n d e d t h a t the f o l l o w i n g parameters
s h a l l be a d o p t e d as d e s i g n c o n d i t i o n s ( i n a c c o r d a n c e
w i t h the requirements o f I S O 2314):

8.1.3 I n s h i p s o f u n r e s t r i c t e d service, a t least t w o
m a i n gas t u r b i n e s s h a l l be u s e d , w h i l e a p o s s i b i l i t y
s h a l l e x i s t o f t h e s h i p m o v e m e n t w i t h o n e gas t u r b i n e
in operation.
W h e n a s i n g l e gas t u r b i n e is e m p l o y e d , t h e
necessity o f a p p l i c a t i o n o f the emergency device t o
e n s u r e s h i p p r o p u l s i o n s h a l l be a g r e e d w i t h t h e
R e g i s t e r i n e a c h case.
8.1.4 W h e n w a t e r s u p p l y t o t h e a i r c o o l e r is
c o m p l e t e l y s h u t o f f , t h e gas t u r b i n e w i t h a i r i n t e r c o o l i n g s h a l l d e v e l o p a n o u t p u t n o t less t h a n
20 per cent o f the design value.
8.1.5 T h e gas t u r b i n e i n s t a l l a t i o n w i t h a r e v e r s i n g
device shall p r o v i d e reversing f r o m f u l l a h e a d t o f u l l
astern a n d vice versa (refer t o 2.1.4, P a r t V I I
"Machinery Installations").
T h e gas t u r b i n e i n s t a l l a t i o n w i t h o u t a r e v e r s i n g
d e v i c e m a y be i n s t a l l e d , i f t h e s h i p i s e q u i p p e d w i t h
o t h e r m e a n s a n d devices t o e n s u r e a s t e r n r u n n i n g .

W h e n t h e a s t e r n t u r b i n e is e m p l o y e d , t h e
r e q u i r e m e n t s o f 3.1.2 a n d 3.6.2 s h a l l be f o l l o w e d ,
for reverse-reduction gear, the r e q u i r e m e n t s o f 4.1.1
o f t h e P a r t s h a l l be c o m p l i e d w i t h a n d i n t h e case o f
C P P a p p l i c a t i o n , the r e q u i r e m e n t s o f 6.5.5, P a r t V I I
" M a c h i n e r y I n s t a l l a t i o n s " s h a l l be m e t .
W h e n u s i n g the compressed a i r f o r the reverse
s y s t e m s , i t s s t o r e s h a l l p r o v i d e a t least 2 5 r e s e t t i n g s o f
the reverse. R e f u e l l i n g o f the compressed a i r store
s h a l l be p e r f o r m e d a u t o m a t i c a l l y f r o m a t least t w o
sources.
C o n n e c t i o n o f other consumers to the h i g h
pressure compressed air systems p r o v i d i n g the
o p e r a t i o n o f t h e r e v e r s e s y s t e m s , p r o t e c t i o n o f gas
t u r b i n e s , b r i d g e c o n t r o l is p r o h i b i t e d .
8.1.6 T h e s t e a d y o p e r a t i o n o f t h e gas t u r b i n e s
w i t h o u t stalling a n d surging under a l l possible
o p e r a t i n g c o n d i t i o n s , m a n o e u v r i n g i n c l u d e d , as w e l l
as t h e p e r m i s s i b l e d e p o s i t s o n gas t u r b i n e s a n d u n d e r
t r o p i c a l c o n d i t i o n s ( a i r t e m p e r a t u r e n o t less t h a n
4 5 C, r e l a t i v e a i r h u m i d i t y o f 9 5 p e r c e n t a t 3 5 C
a n d sea w a t e r t e m p e r a t u r e o f 3 5 C) s h a l l be p r o v e d
b y c a l c u l a t i o n s a n d tests.

w i t h waste-heat circuits, t h e steam turbine shall be i n
compliance w i t h t h e requirements o f Section 3 o f the
present P a r t a n d t h e waster heat boiler shall c o m p l y
w i t h the requirements o f Part X "Boilers, Heat

8.9.2 T h e w a s t e r - h e a t c i r c u i t s s h a l l b e p r o v i d e d
w i t h systems t o ensure evacuation i n condensers

Condensers shall be provided w i t h protection
against pressure rising above permissible values.
8.9.3 A t t h e b e g i n n i n g o f t h e r o t o r r o t a t i o n ,
p r o v i s i o n shall be m a d e f o r a n a u t o m a t i c disconnect i o n o f the shaft-turning gear o f the steam turbine.
8.9.4 I n case t w o g a s t u r b i n e s w i t h w a s t e heat circuits a r e installed i n a twin-shaft ship,
an o p e r a t i n g m o d e is p e r m i t t e d w i t h t h e shaft
o n o n e side b e i n g d r i v e n b y t h e g a s t u r b i n e a n d t h e
