Instructions for Creating a Local EDQ 12.2.

1
Training Environment on a Windows Machine
An alternative to using a virtual machine is to install Oracle Enterprise Data Quality on a
Windows machine. The training labs assume that the EDQ-12.2.1-Trn Linux virtual machine
is being used, and if you install Oracle Enterprise Data Quality on a Windows machine, some of
the paths, file locations and other instructions given in the labs will be different.

Set up Your Own Training Environment

To follow this alternative approach, you will need to:
1. Confirm that you are installing on one of the following Windows operating system
versions:
a. Windows XP
b. Windows 2003 Server
c. Windows 2008 Server
d. Windows 7
2. Confirm that your user has administrative rights over your Windows machine the
installer will not run without this.
3. Ensure that you machine has an up to date Java Runtime Environment installed, and if
not, install one.
4. Download the Oracle Enterprise Data Quality 12.2.1 Quick Start (Windows)
distribution from
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/oedq/downloads/index.html. (do not
download the Generic distribution).
5. Install Oracle Enterprise Data Quality 12.2.1 by following steps a h, below:

a. Extract the distribution from the zip file that is supplied in.
b. Within the root of the folder that you extracted from the zip file, locate a file called
c.

edqSetup.exe.
Launch the installer .exe by double-clicking edqSetup.exe.

Note that if you are installing on a Windows Vista, Windows 7 or

Windows 8 machine, you may need to right click edqSetup.exe and
select Run as administrator.

d.
e.

Click Next.
In the Functional Packs dialog, select all of the check boxes and click Next>.
Note that you should select all functional packs so that all Enterprise
Data Quality functionality is available to you during training.

f.

In the Choose Install Location dialog click Install. Do not change the Destination
Folder.
The green progress bar will show that Oracle Enterprise Data Quality is
installing. This typically takes several minutes.

g.

If a Windows Firewall dialog box appears saying that some features of the
program have been blocked, click Unblock.
h. Click the Finish button to end the installation.
6. Create a folder called share on the root of your machines C:\ drive.

7. Download the training data, which is held in a zip file called

edq_training_assets_12.2.1 (see the Useful Links section, below, for information
about where to download this from).
8. Unzip the edq_training_assets_12.2.1 zip file to your C:\share folder.
9. Copy the following files from the edq_training_assets_12.2.1 folder to your EDQ
instances landingarea*:
a.

edq_training_assets_12.2.1\Data Files\fundamentals\servicemanagement.jmp

*The default location of the EDQ landingarea differs depending upon

which release of Windows you are using. On Windows 7 machines, the
default landing area location is C:\ProgramData\Oracle\Enterprise
Data Quality\oedq_local_home\landingarea.

10. Create a sub-folder of your landingarea and call it Cloud Auto. Copy the following file
to your landingareas Cloud Auto folder:
a.

edq_training_assets_12.2.1\OEDQ Demo Data\US Customers.csv

11. Copy the following files from the edq_training_assets_12.2.1 folder to your EDQ
instances runprofiles folder*:
a.
b.

edq_training_assets_12.2.1\Data Files\fundamentals\us-customers.properties
edq_training_assets_12.2.1\Data Files\fundamentals\name-gendermap.properties

*The default location of the EDQ runprofiles folder differs depending

upon which release of Windows you are using. On Windows 7 machines,
the default landing area location is
C:\ProgramData\Oracle\Enterprise Data
Quality\oedq_local_home\runprofiles.

Navigate to the Launchpad

The Oracle Enterprise Data Quality Launchpad is a web page that enables you to launch Oracle
Enterprise Data Quality user interfaces.
1. Open a web browser on your host and navigate to the following URL:
http://localhost:9002/edq.
The port number used in this URL 9002 - is the default port configured
by the Windows Quick Start installer. If you already have an EDQ
installation on your machine, then the Windows Quick Start installer may
select a different port number. In this case, open the Oracle Enterprise
Data Quality Launchpad from the Windows Start menu / button (in
Windows 7: Start button > All Programs > Oracle Enterprise Data
Quality > Enterprise Data Quality Launchpad).

Note that the Launchpad may take some time to display when you have
just installed EDQ or when you have just started your machine (this is
because the EDQ server is starting). Be patient, and it should appear.

2. In your web browser, make the Launchpad web page a favorite or bookmark it so you
can easily return to it in future.

Launch Director
1. On the Launchpad, click the Director link to launch the application. Allow any Java
webstart confirmation boxes that may appear so that the client software can be
downloaded. If you are asked whether you want to run the application, click Run. If a
dialog box warns you that the Windows Firewall has blocked some aspects of the

program, click Unblock. If a dialog box warns you that dxi files already have an
association, just click OK.
Director is one of Oracle Enterprise Data Qualitys rich, Java Web Start
user interfaces. Clicking the Director link from the Launchpad causes the
user interface to download via Java Web Start from the EDQ server,
which has been installed within your Windows Machine. Once it has
been downloaded, the user interface will invite you to login. And once
you have done this, you will be able to interact with the EDQ server, via
the Director user interface.

2. The Login to localhost dialog will open. Login with the following credentials:
a. Username:
dnadmin
b. Password:
dnadmin

dnadmin is a superuser that is created when Oracle Enterprise Data

Quality is installed. It has all the security privileges available in EDQ. In
a live environment, in which many users may interface with the same
EDQ server, most users will have a more restricted set of privileges.
However, in the training environment, which is figuratively a sandpit, it
will be useful for you to enjoy unrestricted access to all EDQ
functionality.

3. A dialog will warn you that your password has expired (this is a security measure to
force you to change the dnadmin users password on first login). For training purposes,
change the dnadmin users password to dnadmin1.
Note that at various points in the training labs, you will be asked to log
in as the dnadmin user with a password of dnadmin. At these points,
please remember to use the password dnadmin1 instead.
