Mistake #4: Not going to the Jamart or
Muzdalifah
Some of us delegate another hajji to throw
the pebbles on our behalf for no valid reason. We get scared of the crowd or sometimes, get plain old lazy, not understanding the importance of doing it themselves,
even if they are able.
Msh'Allh, Allh has blessed us with
health. Alamdulillh, we are young, energetic, confident, and capable. We are able
to do anything and everything when we are
back home and yet, when it comes to Hajj
and the Jamart, all of a sudden we become frail, little weaklings who cannot go
throw the pebbles.
Don't be lazy about the rituals of Hajj. Realize the significance of doing everything
yourself if you have the ability. There's no
need to be scared at all. Yes, many years
ago, we heard horror stories of stampedes,
and people suffocating or hurting themselves. But not anymore, Alamdulillh
the Saudi government has renovated the
whole Jamart complex a few years ago
and it is the easiest thing in the world. I
have seen old people in wheelchairs, people on crutches, and kids as little as 3 and
4 years old, throwing the pebbles themselves.
If there is a lot of crowd or your safety is an
issue, it can be delayed.
It is permissible to delay their (meaning
women) stoning of the Jamart until the
crowding is less or has stopped, and there
is nothing wrong with them doing that. (Fatawa Shaykh Uthaymeen)
Although it is allowed for women to leave
Muzdalifah after half the night has passed,
if there is an excuse such as sickness,
weakness, or just because we are women.
BUT, it is better if you do stay the whole
night following the Sunnah of the Prophet
(allallhu 'alayhi wa sallam). So don't
chicken out.
Mistake #5: Crowding with the men
Beware of crowding with men in all the
rituals of Hajj, especially during awf
and at the Black Stone, during Sa'i and
when stoning the Jamarat. Choose times
when there is less crowding. Think about
it. Touching the Black Stone is a beautiful
Sunnah, but it is a sunnah. And protecting yourself and your hay' from coming in

to what it really means to be a human being amongst everyone on earth, much
less what it truly means to be a Muslim in
peaceful surrender to Allah.

present at the meeting at Turkish embassy were the Wajir governor Ahmed

Tana River sent representatives.
In the wake of the coup, President Uhuru Kenyatta was among the first lead-
Munawar lauded Matiangi stand for refusing calls to close schools early noting
that the move would disrupt learning and
the completion of syllabus leading to poor
performance among students.
Also coming to his defense, Mandera
senator Billow Kerrow said embattled
Matiangi should remain adamant on the
course to reform the education sector and
ignore the naysayers. Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiangi should remain firm, and pursue his determination
to clean up the education sector without
looking over his shoulder, said the Senator.
Billow said Matiangi attempts to clean
the mess in the education sector is being sabotaged by those affected by his
changes adding that his action to reform
are long overdue.
He further called for firm action to be taken against school heads for negligence
and failure to end the wave of unrest. I
believe such firm action will act as deterrent to the rest of the schools. It is inconceivable that a group of students can
plan to execute an attack and the school
leadership has absolutely no clue at all,
he said.
While further rebuking those calling for
the resignation of Matiangi and the premature closure of schools, the senator
urged parents to throw their weight behind the CS for the interest of the childrens education.

Pope Francis says it is wrong to equate violence with Islam, adding that "I do not believe that it is true or right that Islam is terrorist."
On a flight back to the Vatican after a five-day visit to Poland,
Francis was asked by a reporter about remarks he made following last week's attack on a church in northern France in which an
elderly priest was brutally murdered.
The reporter asked the pope why he refers to terrorists but never
to Islam when talking about such violent incidents.
Francis responded that the characterization of Islam as violent
is untrue and that violence committed by extremist groups such
as the Islamic State should not be attributed to the religion as a
whole.
"If I speak of Islamic violence, I should speak of Catholic violence," the pope said.
"I believe that in pretty much every religion there is always a small
group of fundamentalists," he said, adding, "When fundamentalism comes to kill, it can kill with the language the Apostle
James says this, not me and even with a knife, no?"
Francis went on to say that the real cause of terrorism lies in the
idolatry of wealth: "Terrorism grows when there are no other options, and when the center of the global economy is the god of
money and not the person.".
Earlier last week, the Pope said that the latest string of attacks
were proof the world is at war but that it was not caused by
religion.

Madrasah literally in Arabic language means school. It is therefore in this context of a religious school that aims at teaching Islam
and the Islamic cultural values including Arabic as a language.
The Madrasah system in Kenya has been operating in the same
way like it did so many centuries back. Many of the current Madrasahs were started by individuals in homes or in private accommodations. Others are run by Mosque committees. To a large extend
many suffer from the state of non-reform due to individualization
of these institutions.
In the Arab states and some other countries, Muslims have schools
Madarasas that teach all secular subjects together with Islamic
subjects like Quran and its exegesis, Traditions of the prophet
(Hadeeth), Jurisprudence (Figh), Etiquettes (Akhlaq), Prophets
biography (Seerah). In this manner no distinction has been made
between the two as it all amounts to knowledge seeking.
Those who graduate from such like systems have the full potential
to practice their religious rites in line with their other specialties
without any contradictions. A medical doctor who can recite relate
the noble verses of the Quran to the current and dynamic developmental issues. This is the product of this well-intended set up.
Other learning set ups, like the ones in Kenya are different. There
is no link between these religious Madrasahs and the school system. If to a little extend the schools are only lucky and privileged to
at least have some few Islamic lessons taught to its pupils and students in terms of Islamic Religious Education which suffers from
deficiency of qualified trained teachers, capable of handling the
subject and giving it the rights it deserves.
Ummah Foundation and likeminded Organisations have strived to
think a long this line of how best can we stream line the current
system to be able to be productive in terms of quality of its graduands. For the past nine years, we have ran Madrasahs in Nakuru,
Kisumu and Magadi.
The objective is to give chance to Muslim students in these areas
to learn at a tender age their religion and at the same time be able
to attend school like the rest of the Kenyan pupils. This was also
aimed at:
1- Providing a holistic education compatible with Islamic principles
and practices.
2- Enabling our young learners to live harmoniously in our multicultural society and to contribute to the growth and wellbeing of
our nation.
3- Preserving our Islamic identity and commitment to the development of the Ummah.
4- Starting a foundation to a more unified system that can run our
Madrasahs with potential trained teachers.
Even though the results are still far to be realized but in the long
term, we project positive outcomes. It is also in this spirit that Ummah Foundation is very encouraged and motivated by the efforts
and achievements made by Muslim Education Council (MEC) to
formalize the process of our Madrasah systems in the Kenyan
Education Curriculum.
We would like to call upon all the stakeholders in the education
sector to give it all in terms of promoting our religious learning at
all levels. The future of this Ummah rests heavily with the efforts
that are being made now.
