1.

State and draw three (3) types of AC circuit and impendences when the circuit is:
(i) Purely resistive (ii) Inductive (iii) Capacitive

c) Phase shift,
d) Maximum current Ia in the circuit.
e) Values of VR1, VR2, VL and Vc.

11. The circuit shown in Figure below is operating in the sinusoidal steady state with the voltage source,

a) Total impedance, ZT

c) The voltage drop at V1 and V2.

13 . For the single phase system, calculate;


a) Indicate the characteristics of each load (A and B) whether inductive or capacitive.
b) The real, reactive and apparent power at each load.
c) Total real, reactive and apparent power delivered by the source. Also, find power
factor of the source.

a) The total real, reactive and apparent power.
b) The current drawn from the supply.

16. A 120-V rms 60Hz source supplies two loads connected in parallel, as shown in Fig. below.
a) Find the power factor of the parallel combination.
b) Calculate the value of the capacitance connected in parallel that will raise the power factor
to unity.
