EVALUATION CRITERIA
I.

Evaluation procedures and criteria

Continuous assessment will be conducted throughout the module. The course tutor will gather evidence of
participants progress in four areas:
a. Completion of Tasks
Participants are expected to complete all tasks, except for those marked Optional. The platform
keeps a record of all actions performed by participants (access to resources, posts to Forums or
Meeting Rooms, answering Quizzes, etc.). The records and the rubrics below will be used to assess
each participants completion of tasks.

Participant respects the established word limit for the task.
Participants contribution is relevant and bears direct relation to the question (does not let the discussion stray).
Participant brings in related prior knowledge (work experience, reading material, prior coursework, etc.).
Participant acknowledges his/her sources.
Participant builds on others responses. Contributions that are limited to 'I agree' or 'Excellent', etc. are avoided. Statements of
agreement (or disagreement) are backed up with reasons, and supported with concepts from course materials or a related example /
experience.
Participant uses proper netiquette (proper language, typing, etc.).

c. Checkpoints
There is an online quiz called Checkpoint at the end of every unit. These quizzes are compulsory,
timed (30 minutes maximum), and can only be attempted once. Grades will be averaged and assessed
as follows:

NB: There may be other quizzes throughout the module, which are used to diagnose knowledge of a
topic or to check comprehension of course materials. These are not Checkpoints; they are, however,
taken into account for the Completion of Tasks mark (see section a. above).
d. Assignments
Every module involves submitting 2-3 online assignments either individually or in groups. Assignments
are marked by the tutor using the rubrics below.

NB: There may be other assignments throughout the module, which are used as a means of sending
information to the tutor. These are not graded assignments; they are, however, taken into account
for the Completion of tasks mark (see section a. above).

II.

Module Overall Grade

A single, overall grade is awarded at the end of the course, based on the aggregate of marks gained in the
four areas described above. There are two pass grades and a fail grade:
Pass with Merit (Excellent in at least 3 areas, Good in the fourth area)
Pass (A combination of Excellent, Good or Average in 3 or 4 areas; Poor in one area)
Fail (Poor in 2 areas or more).

Participants who earn a pass grade will be awarded a Module Certificate.
