Chemical reactions are a fundamental part in the life of a chemical engineer; it is these that
differentiate it from other engineers and make him indispensable in the process of creating and
scaling materials production and obtaining products. An engineer should be formed adequately
to fully carry out their work in the industry, and this is the reason why the subject-matter of
engineering of chemical reactions is vital in the development of chemical engineers. The
thoughts and expectations that will take place in the course will detailed below, and also how as
the end of the course, the objectives set forth in the textbook of the course will be met.
The main objective of course of reaction engineering is to develop in students a full
understanding of the fundamentals of chemical reactions, so the problems that arise here are
analyzed critically, and can be resolved without memorizing means solution. To accomplish
this, we have all kinds of support materials provided by the textbook like readings of interest
and CD-ROM with many useful resources on this process. A Chemical engineer in his
profession, should be able to fully understand the fundamentals of the processes carried out,
and reason logically about the variables that intervenes and how these affects every part of the
process. Also, the primary goal is to promote creativity, it is well known that there is no single
solution to perform a process, and it can always be improved in some way, so innovation must
always be present and we will try to find it with problems with multiple solutions and in this
way, make an engineer in developing with a broader view of problem solving.
The reactions engineering requires some prior knowledge and if these are not clear, can make
this experience a waste unnecessary of energy. Mastering topics such as energy balances,
diffusion, speed laws, molar balances and other more, the student will be able to understand
any of the issues presented in the textbook and in the course in general.
In this course, different resources are available to board the issues educational and interactive
way, creating in the student a critical and innovative thinking to solve the problems of reactions
engineering and reactors design in which these are presented. It strengthens the concepts that
have been assimilated throughout his training, and allows the knowledge about the reactions
and their progress become something intuitive. The problems presented give many possible
solutions, and the resources are in line with actual technologies. In conclusion, this course will
not only teach the skills to handle the chemical reactions and reactors, also will emphasize the
formation of critical chemical engineers, who will be efficient in all projects undertaken in their
professional life.
