B. A brief report on the event by the Convener / organizing Chair (In about 500
words)
The Electrical and Electronics Engineering department is Association Inauguration
for the academic year 2016-2017 was held at 16/07/2016. Dr.D.Devaraj, Head of the
Department/EEE welcomed the gathering and mentioned the role of the association in
shaping the career of the students. He encouraged the students to actively participate in the
various events conducted by the department.
The Chief Guest in his inaugural address emphasized the importance of engineers
and the role they play in the society. He pointed out some special skills that must be,
acquired by engineering graduates, in addition to their technical knowledge.
He encouraged the students to attend seminars and to take part in various field visits
and in inplant training to improve their practical knowledge. He also encouraged them to
improve aptitude skills to succeed in this competitive world. He also advised the students to
develop their communication skills and learn other languages to get employment in other
States and foreign Countries.
He emphasized the importance of theoretical as well as practical knowledge to
become professional electrical engineers.
The Chief Guest was honored by Dr.A.Ramkumar, Associate Professor/EEE
Mr.Maharajan, Association President presented the annual plan for the current
academic year. Ms.Shiamala, Association Secretary proposed the vote of thanks.
A Guest lecture was delivered by Dr.HosiminThilagar on the topic of Micro Electro
Mechanical System. In this lecture he explained about nanotechnology, micro technology,
micrometer technology, its examples and when they are used and explained about the
fabrication of micro gripper and its types. He also showed the micro gripper applications in
videos such as drilling, welding.
Later the following events were conducted to enhance the skills of the students.

The Certificate Distribution function was held at 4.00 P.M. Dr.Thilagar delivered the
Valedictory address and distributed the Prizes to the winners. In his address he
stressed the importance of moral and ethical values in Profession career. He cited the
example of Engineer Vishveshwariya to the Students.

C. How the knowledge gained will be used for benefit of stake holders (Students,
faculty etc.)
Both Faculties and students gained the knowledge in the area of micro gripper
applications and the students motivated to participate in seminar and various events.
