Organizational/Storage Tool:

A teachers toolbox is a great organizational/storage tool for any classroom for not only teachers
to use, but also students. Each box will be filled with any kind of extra supplies that will be
needed in a lesson or any kind of activity. Post-it notes, permanent markers, glue sticks, tape,
paper clips, staples, markers, and crayons, are some examples that would be available.

Rationale:

Teachers desk
The teachers desk is arranged in the back left corner of the classroom in order to see
all of my students
Table-Small Group Instruction
The small table is arranged to where I am able to still monitor my other students who
are not at my table working, and making sure that they are doing what they are
suppose to do. At the table, there will be chairs available for the amount of students
that I call to the small table.
Bulletin Board for student work
The bulletin board is placed at the front of the room next to the dry erase board for
students to see important information.
File Cabinets (2)
The file cabinets are arranged near the teachers desk to where it is accessible for me
to grab anything from there.
Dry Erase board
The dry erase board is arranged in the front of the room where all of the students are
able to see in any direction of the room.
Library and other centers
The library is placed in the back of the room near the carpet for students to grab a
book or magazine and can sit on the beanbags on carpet in the centers location or
walk back to their seats.
Bookcases
The bookcases are arranged where the students are able to easily access textbooks
when needed, but also to not distract other students view.
Cabinets
Cabinets are arranged on the side of the room near the bookcases for student access,
where they are able to turn in items as well as get extra sheets of notebook paper, and
staple assignments. It will also have each of the students number in different slots for
them to pick up their graded assignments.
Computers
The computer are arranged where the teacher is able to monitor the students (even
across the room), and its away from the other students in the classroom to prevent
distractions.
Word Wall
Word walls are placed on the back wall as a reference for students.
Students Desks or Tables
Students desks are arranged where the students are able to face the dry erase board,
and any instructional area easily. I also have it arranged to where I am able to walk
around the desk and monitor the students progress easily and provide help if needed.

2.) Classroom Procedures:

o Rules
- The rules will be posted on the wall and I will create a set of rules for the students in
addition give them the ability to add on and sign their name at the bottom of it to
assure that they understand and will follow them.
o Teachers signal to gain student attention
Teachers Command
Student Response
Class Class
Yes Yes
1,2,3 eyes on me
1,2, eyes on you.
All set?
You bet!
o Students signal for teachers attention/obtaining help
My expectations for each of my students when needing my attention are to not yell
out my name or say Ms., but to patiently raise their hand and wait for me to
acknowledge them.
Crossing their legs, or patting their head can gain the teachers attention whenever
they are feeling embarrassed to raise their hands.
o When individual work has been completed
Word Ladders Change one letter each time, and not repeating the word.
Tape Resist Art Coloring technique
M &M / Skittles Math estimating, sorting, addition, comparing numbers, problem
solving
o Small group instruction
I would have a visual over the projector letting students know that I am working in
small group and they cannot interrupt me unless it is an emergency, such as a student
that is hurt.
If the students need assistance, they can ask their table leader for help. If the students
are unable to come up with a solution, they can move on to a sponge activity and wait
until I am done with my small group.
My expectations for the other students who are not in my small group are to stay on
task and keep their voices at a level one while they are completing their assignments.
If they are done with their assignments, they can start a sponge activity for the
remaining time.
o Beginning the school day
At the door, I will greet the students by saying, Good Morning to each student
walking in.
When the students are coming into the classroom, they will turn their name card
around on the attendance wall, letting me know that they are present.
Once the students turn in their daily communication folders/notebooks to me, they
will begin their Do First activity in their seats.
o Lunch Count
Next to the attendance chart, there will be a lunch chart (hot lunch, home lunch, salad,
or sandwich) with assigned name clothespins for each student to mark their preferred
meal of the day.

I will document the information on a Daily Lunch Count Chart and bring it to the
cafeteria, every morning.
Ending the school day
Students will be instructed to pack up their belongings quietly and line at the door to
walk them to their designated area of dismissal.
I will tell each student, Goodbye. Have a great and safe evening.
Leaving the room as a group
The students will be lining up according to their table number, or in alphabetical
order.
My expectations for the students while they are lining up to leave the room, is for
their voice to remain at a level one.
Entering/returning to the room as a group
Students will be leaving and entering the room in a line quietly.
Other transitions Desk to carpet
Call students according to the color of their shirt, birthday month, or by table.
Walking in line
My expectations for students walking in the hallway are to not run in the hallway,
walk in a single file line, and to be quiet.
Restroom
One student at a time will be allowed to go to the restroom. If a student needs to go
to the restroom, they will need to hold up one hand in the fingers crossed/sign
language symbol for R letting me know that they need to go to the restroom.
Water
The procedure for getting water will be, if a student needs to go get some water, they
will need to hold three fingers up (forming a W), to let me know that they need to get
a drink of water. If I do not notice that they are holding a W, they will have the
ability to call my name to get my attention.
Sharpening Pencils
Students will be able to sharpen their pencils in the morning of each class day.
If there comes a time where a pencil breaks, the student will be able to put the broken
pencils in a jar labeled, Broken pencils and grab a sharpen pencil from the
Sharpen pencils jar.
Distributing Materials
Materials will be available in the middle of the students connected desk in a pencil
box or small supplies holder (Example: pencils, highlighters, pens, and scissors).
Returning Student Work
Students graded work will be placed in each of their assigned number slot in the
cabinets located next to the bookcases.
Students Turning in Work
Students will place their completed work in a bin labeled, Completed and if they
are not finished with their work, they will be able to place it in the Not Completed
bin.
Classroom Helpers
The Distributor Distributes any books or materials to students at their table when
needed.
