SPA CULMINATION 2016


RATIONALE
SPA (Special Program in the Arts) is a program made by the Department of Education in
the Philippines to give talented students a chance to enhance their talents in different fields.
There are five fields in the SPA: Creative Writing (English and Filipino), Visual Arts, Theater
Arts, Vocal Music, Instrumental Music, Dance and Media Arts.
Creative Writing includes Fiction, Poetry, Playwriting and Journalism both in English
and Filipino.
Dance includes Classical and Modern Ballet, Folk Dance, Improvisation, Composition
and Staging.
Music includes theory, Composition, Solo instrument, Ensemble, Chorus, and Solo
voices both Instrumental and Vocal.
Theater Arts include Acting, Stage Management, Technical Theater, Theory and History
of Theater, Dance Theater and Directing.
Visual Arts include Visual Perception, Sculpture, Painting, Drawing and Sketching.
Media Arts include Photography, Photo Editing through computer, Music Remixing,
Movie Making & Editing, Materials & Techniques and Computer Art.
VISION
Special Program in the Arts (SPA) envisions an excellent young artist with aesthetic
potential and renewed spiritually committed to the preservation of Filipino culture and heritage.
Sogod National High School takes pride in offering the Special Program in the Arts
(SPA).
OBJECTIVES
The objectives of this program are:
To provide artistically inclined students with regular secondary education;
To enhance the talents of the students through specialized individual courses;
To provide basic knowledge, concept and skills necessary for secondary education;
To develop special inclinations of students in media arts, creative writing, visual arts,
music, drama and theater arts, and dance arts;
To establish cultural identity, awareness of life, a sense of nationalism and preserve
traditions;
To develop students ability to express their ideas and feelings through their chosen art
forms and be responsive to national excellence and globalization;

To prepare students for life and work by developing in them the general skills and
attitudes, the habits of hearts and mind they need to prevail the post modern society
regardless of their chosen career.
CULMINATION PROGRAM
(MUSIC AND DANCE)

Sogod National High School presents Dance and Music Culmination Program bearing a
theme Showcase of Words and Motion at SNHS Open Stage on March 18, 2016 (Friday), 3:00
in the afternoon.
The program includes doxology through a group song entitled Our Father. The other
presentations include Dances such as folk, contemporary, hip hop and modern; Music, such as
vocal solos, vocal duets, group singing, and playing of musical instruments namely flute lyre,
piano, guitars and beatbox.
The Special Program Coordinator Mrs. Cynthia T. Abunda takes part in the said program
by giving her opening/welcome lines to the students and audience. The specialist in Music is
Ricardo Melecio. The specialists in Dance are Mary Ann Cajes, Julius Mendez. The program is
hosted and arranged by Ronora Docena, specialist in Creative Writing.
This program determines the Performance Task Rating of the students for the 4 th quarter,
basing on individuals performance.
The program ended well. The organization has its fellowship meal after.

CULMINATION PROGRAM
(DRAMA AND THEATER ARTS)
The Drama and Theater Arts students, initiated by their specialist, culminate on March
15, 2016 (Tuesday) at 8-SPA (A) Classroom, Sogod National High School.
The program includes the presentation of Filipino dramas, originally created by the
artists. It serves as the finale of all their practices and performances. Their Performance Task for
the 4th quarter rating is based on their performances on the planned program.
Evangeline Dublas, Drama and Theater Arts specialist spearheaded this activity.

CULMINATING ACTIVITY
(CREATIVE WRITING)

The Creative Writers culminate their outputs by making individual literary portfolio. The
portfolio includes English, Filipino and Visayan poems, essays, jokes, fictional short stories,
plays, and autobiography.
The portfolio and its content determine their Performance Task for the 4 th quarter. The
writers based their outputs from the rubrics provided by the Creative Writing specialist, Ronora
Docena.
