PROVINCIAL ATHLETIC MEET 2013

CHESS GAME RULES


Each team is required to bring at least one chess clock and one chess board
to be deposited and withdrawn from the equipment storekeeper before and
after the game.
A. Recording of moves is compulsory. A draw on repetition of moves can only
be acclaimed if the moves are recorded on the score sheet of the player
claiming the draw. A player who does not write his move shall be sanctioned
as follows:
1. First Offense- Warning
2. Second Offense- 3 minutes deduction on his clock
3. Third Offense- Disqualification
B. The use of chess clock is compulsory. The hand used in moving the piece
shall also be the one used in punching the clock.
C. Each player shall be given one and one-half hour to finish the game. A
player whose flag falls down first shall be adjudged the loser provided his
opponent has sufficient mating force.
D. The arbiter is empowered to declare a game drawn if in his judgement a
player is trying to win on time alone.
E. It is the responsibility of the player to inform the arbiter that the flag of his
opponent has fallen down or any illegal moves done by his opponent.
