The knowers perspective is essential in the pursuit of knowledge.

To what extent do you agree?

Things to address in the essay:
What is the knowers perspective?
Does its value depend on the area of knowledge?
Does its presence stem from the way of knowing?
Examine it by maybe comparing two areas and two ways to conclude as
to its important in the pursuit of knowledge
KQ - To what extent does the knowers perspective play a role in the pursuit
of knowledge in math and art?
Para 1
What is perspective? The knowers personal value judgments and
assumptions about the area of knowledge. Eg: an artists reflections
about the world depicted in his work Wordsworth writing about
nature, Monet painting nature, Picasso engaging in the abstract.
Personal and shared knowledge.
What is the pursuit of knowledge? ways of knowing including
emotions, imagination, memory, reasoning.
Art means of expression, and undertaking an enquiry into a method
of creating things that evoke emotion and appreciation in others.
Math means of reasoning, to analyse and arrive at a logical
conclusion and solutions.
State the KQ.
Answer to the KQ That the degree of value that perspective adds is
dependent on the area of knowledge being explored, as some require
additional value judgment that lends an element of subjectivity, while
others require to be observed purely objectively.
Roadmap Look at the necessity of perspective in the areas of math
and the arts, to showcase the different ways of knowing and the role
perspective plays.
Para 2 (Math claim 1)
In math, the knowers perspective negligibly influences the pursuit of
knowledge as the conclusions arrived at are ultimately logical and
objective, and free from any bias or subjectivity.
Eg: Euclid was influenced by his personal affinity for logic to pursue
math, and consequently arrived at Euclidean geometry but although
centuries have elapsed since his theorem, it has still remained the
same, and unchanged by the perspectives of subsequent
mathematicians.

Para 3 (Math counter claim 1)

The knowers personal beliefs influence the pursuit of knowledge by
determining the way of knowing undertaken.
Eg: language of the problem, visual representation of the problem,
geometry and diagrams, etc.

Para 5 (Math counter claim 2)
Para

6 (Arts claim 1)
Cultural patterns sway objectivity.
Way of knowing emotion and imagination.
Culture and society impact an artists perspectives and personal bias,
which further influences his work (positive and negative influences.)
M.F. Hussain and his paintings of Saraswati, my poetry is influenced by
the kind of experiences that I have undergone in a cultural setup
writing about my travels, problems, etc.

Para

7 (Arts counter claim 1)

Cultural patterns do not sway objectivity.
Way of knowing emotion and imagination.
Culture does not influence an artists perspective to the extent that it
reflects in his work.
Eg: Different artists flourishing in a single culture proves that culture is
not the mitigating factor to determine the kind of art work that is
produced in a country where abstract art has historically not
flourished, abstract artists continue to paint and express themselves,
generating work from their own imagination, free from any cultural
influence.
