Project Information and Requirements Form

PROJECT INFORMATION AND REQUIREMENTS FORM

1) Expanded Project Information now documented and synchronized with iBwave Mobile
Project specification, customer information, building types and requirements are now documented in
project properties. This information represents the key requirements for Design projects that are now
shared and synchronized with iBwave Mobile and managed by iBwave Unity.
The project information is part of the requirements that define the Design project and becomes part of
the in-building information modeling that documents the project at conception and is continuously
updated during deployment and maintenance phases.

Project Types are created and assigned to projects, new project type definitions are shared with
iBwave Mobile and iBwave Unity.

iBwave Design Release Notes / Version 6.6.4

2

WHATS NEW IN VERSION 6.6?

2) Documented Initial Requirements

Project estimates and initial requirements are documented in project properties. Along with the project
information, the initial requirements are part of the in-building information modeling.
The information is shared and updated to synchronize with all iBwave products. Requirements can be
collected during a client meeting, a site visit or back at the drawing board with the Design team and
updated throughout the phases of the design project from the office or during site visits.

Initial requirements can be validated during a site visit using iBwave Mobile. The properties are
shared among the iBwave products and any changes made on-site are updated and are made
available via the iBwave Cloud.

iBwave Design Release Notes / Version 6.6.4

3

Wi-Fi Enhancements and Survey Collection

WI-FI ENHANCEMENTS AND SURVEY COLLECTION

3) Integrated solution for Wi-Fi collection and design
Wi-Fi measurements of 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz are collected using iBwave Mobile Planner and imported
to iBwave Design via iBwave Cloud.
Wi-Fi 2.4 GHz and 5GHz measurements in AirMagnet format can also be imported in CSV format.
Specific templates are provided by default for AirMagnet to automate standard data mapping during
import. Wi-Fi measurements collected in the field yield SSID, RSSI and channel values that are later
filtered by on the layout plan.

4) Analyze Wi-Fi survey data by channel and SSID

For a single Design project, Wi-Fi survey data and Cellular survey data is organized in separate tabs
in the Survey panel and are selected to show on the floor plans by selected measurement.
Wi-Fi survey measurements are displayed by SSID and channel IDs. Use the survey panel to filter
collected survey data, calculated and shown directly on floor plans.

Apply additional filter to narrow down the selection and the calculated RSSI.

iBwave Design Release Notes / Version 6.6.4

4

WHATS NEW IN VERSION 6.6?

The filter is applied to the floor plan.

iBwave Design Release Notes / Version 6.6.4

5

Wi-Fi Enhancements and Survey Collection

5) Run interpolated signal strength map from collected Wi-Fi survey data
The Wi-FI data that is displayed and/or filtered on the layout plan can be interpolated to be shown as
an output map for better visibility.

Note: Survey Interpolation map is now available for Wi-Fi and Cellular survey measurements.
6) New Best Server Channel and Best server AP maps
The new Best Server Channel and Best Server Access Point (AP) maps are tailored for Wi-Fi
systems. The Best Server Channel map shows the regions covered by each individual channel
number with a separate color.

iBwave Design Release Notes / Version 6.6.4

6

WHATS NEW IN VERSION 6.6?

The Best Server AP output map shows the area of the floor plan covered by each individual access
point for Wi-Fi Designs.

iBwave Design Release Notes / Version 6.6.4

7

Wi-Fi Enhancements and Survey Collection

7) Support throughput map for Wi-Fi

Enhanced Maximum Achievable Data Rate (throughput) for Wi-Fi now considers the interference
from surrounding networks using the RF measurements.

iBwave Design Release Notes / Version 6.6.4

8

WHATS NEW IN VERSION 6.6?

NEW OUTPUT MAPS AND CALCULATIONS

8) Dominance Over Macro output map
The new Dominance Over Macro output map shows the dominance of the indoor signals over the
macro network. The difference between the indoor signal and the outdoor signals is mapped. For this
map, the macro network can be modelled using on-site RF measurements, imported from outdoor
prediction tool or using a given value.

iBwave Design Release Notes / Version 6.6.4

9

New Output Maps and Calculations

9) RCSP output map

The new RSCP output map shows the power of the received common pilot channel. The map is
supported for CDMA, WCDMA and HSPA technologies.

iBwave Design Release Notes / Version 6.6.4

10

WHATS NEW IN VERSION 6.6?

PUSHPIN TYPES AND ANNOTATIONS REPORT

10) Enable pushpin types on floor plans
Annotation name and type layers can be enabled to show annotations on floor plans. In the layers
panel, enable the Annotations layers and type.

Annotations are labeled are visible on all floor plans.

iBwave Design Release Notes / Version 6.6.4

11

Pushpin Types and Annotations Report

11) Generate Annotations report with pictures and other media

The new Annotations report compiles the pushpins and their contained media annotations from the
layout plans and generates a snapshot of the layout plans with a visual display of the pushpins. A
breakdown of the annotation list and description is generated in the report. The report can be
exported in Word, Excel, Power Point or PDF.

iBwave Design Release Notes / Version 6.6.4

12

WHATS NEW IN VERSION 6.6?

SYSTEM PREDICTION AND SURVEY REPORTS

12) New Output Maps report
The new output maps report consolidates all generated output maps into a single report output that
documents all maps from each wireless service combined as they appear graphically on each
selected floor. The report can be exported in Word, Excel, Power Point or PDF.
A tree view layout is organized by output map type displays the contents of the report and provides a
navigation tool that can be useful in large reports.

13) New Survey Data report

The new Survey data report exports survey traces on layout plans to a report output. The survey
trace containing survey data points are grouped per floor and ordered per wireless service. The report
can be exported in Word, Excel, Power Point or PDF.

iBwave Design Release Notes / Version 6.6.4

13

System Prediction and Survey Reports

Expand or make collapse the tree-view structure to navigate through the report.

iBwave Design Release Notes / Version 6.6.4

14

WHATS NEW IN VERSION 6.6?

RESERVED OUTPUT MAP RESULTS AND REVISIONS

14) Lock prediction and capacity results
Results of output maps and capacity analysis can be locked to keep a revision of the current
calculated results. Locked output maps and capacity calculations are not overwritten each time new
ones are generated. Designers can make modifications to the floor plan but reserve certain locked
results for the purpose of comparing results with each change.

When running maps a warning message notifies the user that locked output maps will not be
generated.
15) Ignore locked prediction when clearing prediction results
Clearing prediction results from memory will keep the results intact for the locked output maps and
capacity analysis that are set to Locked status.

iBwave Design Release Notes / Version 6.6.4

15

Reserved Output Map Results and Revisions

Note: To clear prediction results for a single map, right-click and select Clear results in the Prediction
panel. To clear multiple maps click Prediction > Clear Prediction Results.

16) Compliance with Code 6 Safety code
Safety Code 6 requires a notification alert when RF emissions reach or become greater than 50% of
the Safety Code 6.
17) Signal flow in a loop is now allowed
A signal can now flow after a loop connection. What previously was a workaround solution is now a
possible configuration in this release.
