How to approach Global Politics IA

Front-page: Title and word count


1st section:
Introduce your Issue.

What is it? Write my political issue is


What is your engagement? How is it connected to your political issue? Write it explicitly!
Why is it significant? Dont involve your personal feelings here. But why is the issue of interest to
ME and YOU.
How is the issue (and therefore also your engagement) related to the GP course. Write it!

2nd section:
Explain your engagement

What was your engagement(s)? Describe it but only the elements of your engagement that is
relevant for your political issue.
In what ways did the experiences inform your understanding of the political issue. What did you
learn in relation to your political issue. Not about how your evolved as a human being! Again
leave out your own personal feelings/sentiments out of it!

3rd section:
Analysis:
-

Discuss your issue from different perspectives. That might be political perspectives or theoretical
perspectives or both. Leave personal feelings/sentiments out.

You must explain how different perspectives views/relates to your political issue. (see the figure
above)

But also compare and contrast the different perspectives. (see the figure above)

Include information from your engagement in your analysis section.


Use key concepts where appropriate
Use theories where appropriate
All points needs to be clearly explained and also justified. You need to provide arguments for any
point you make.

Apart from the information you gained from your engagement, also use information youve found
on your own. Remember to reference it any style will do, as long as you use the same style
throughout your IA.
Through your 'engagement' and additional research you should have formed your own opinion on
the matter and here you can share it (as long as it's substantiated and takes different perspectives
into account).

4th section:

Conclusion. State it clearly: To conclude. Or to sum up

Bibliography: All the material used must be listed in an alphabetical order.

Appendix, e.g. a small transcript of an interview or some of the minutes from an MUN meeting
