2. Introduction
This document is especially designed for the IEC61850 and IEC 60870-5-104
protocol using the REG-PE device. It is describing the primal, initial Configuration of
the REG-PE telecontrol device. The configuration is done by setting up the desired
IP-addresses.
There are 2 REG-PE versions available: for internal use in REG-DA and for external
use in a 19 rack. Please have a look in the fitting section according to the version
you got.

At the front plate, the REG-PE device has a DSUB-9 connector labeled PARAM.
Connect it to a COM interface of your PC using a null modem cable as explained in
section 3.1.2. Now you can control the boot loader (PPCBoot). PPCBoot stays active
for 5 seconds since resetting device (you can reset the REG-PE if you press the red
reset button on REG-PE). Afterwards, it will automatically restart the operating
system and the application (as far as loaded). Connect a terminal program with the
following settings, to control PPCBoot

Baud:
Bit:
Parity:
Stop:

115200
8
none
1

If any key on PC keyboard is pressed in the first 5 seconds after entering boot mode
of REG-PE, PPCBoot will stay active.
Please enter the following if you want to enter the IP-address 192.168.1.1:
setenv ipaddr 192.168.1.1
saveenv
Then reset ( press red REG-PE reset button) the REG-PE and you can start working
with it.
