The Delhi Adventist
Youth (DAY) is a part
of the Seventh-day
Adventist
English
Church. We
meet
every Saturday afternoon at 1400 hrs for a
special Youth service.
Everyone is welcome
to join the service and
be part of Gods special gathering.
Come, join us as we
sing praises to God
and learn more about
His love for us.

I first heard the wonderful story of The Little Engine That Could when I was about
12 years old. As a child, I was interested in the story because the train cars were
filled with toy. The engine that was pulling the train over the mountain broke down.
The story relates that a big passenger engine came by and was asked to pull the
cars over the mountain, but he wouldnt [lower himself] to pull the little train. Another engine came by, but he wouldnt stoop to help the little train over the mountain
because he was a freight engine. An old engine came by, but he would not help
because, he said, I am so tired. I can not. I can not. I can not.
Then
a little blue
engine came down the track, and she was asked to pull the cars

over the mountain on the other side. The little engine responded, Im not very big.
They use me only for switching in the yard. I have never been over the mountain. So she said, I think I can. I think I can. I think I can. And she hooked herself to
the little train. Puff, puff, chug, chug, went the Little Blue Engine. I think I canI
think I canI think I canI think I canI think I canI think I canI think I can.
With this attitude, the little engine reached the top of the mountain and went down
the other side, saying, I thought I could. I thought I could. I thought I could. I thought
I could. I thought I could. I thought I could.
At times all of us are called upon to stretch ourselves and do more than we think we
can. Like the Little Engine That Could, we need to be on the right track and develop our talents. God knows our limitations and yet calls us out to carry His work.
What is our response? Do we look down on the task ahead and say, I am too old,
too tired .
I hope we can all be like the Little Engine That Could. When called up to climb
mountains that we have never climbed before., our answer be, I think I can, Here
am I Lord; send me.

A STONE FRUIT

JULIUS W LYNGDOH

A stone fruit, Mango also known as the King Fruit is the National fruit of India, Pakistan and the Philippines. The mango tree is also the national tree of Bangladesh.
Abundant in the Hot Summer months the king fruit is nutritious, delicious and has tons
of beneficial characteristics that are must share facts:

The anti oxidants like quercetin, gallic acid, etc in the mango protects
the body against colon, breast, leukemia and prostrate cancer.
The Mango fruit also has a high level of vitamin C and dietary fibre
that helps lower blood cholesterol levels.
Not only the fruit but the leaves of mango are healthy too. For people
suffering from diabetes, Just boil 5-6 mango leaves in a vessel, soak it
overnight and drink the filtered decoction in the morning. It helps regulate your insulin levels.
However mango has a low glycemic index (41-60) so diabetics need to
consume in moderation because it can increase blood sugar levels.
Mango has enzymes that help breakdown protein. The fibrous nature
of the fruit also aids in the digestive as well as the elimination process.

The combination of vitamin C, vitamin A and 25 different types of carotenoids helps boost your immunity system.

Mango is also rich in glutamine acid, a important protein for concentration and
memory.
Did you know that mango is rich in vitamin A. One cup of sliced mangoes equals
25% intake of your daily need of vitamin A. Mango is good for eyesight fights
dry eyes and prevents night blindness.
When the sun is bogging you next this summer, just slice a cold mango into a
juicer, add a little water and sugar free or honey, this will cool you down instantly and prevent a heat stroke.

How thoughtful and caring our God is. He thought about providing fruits like the
mango to refresh, nourish and sustain us through the sweltering summer months. Yes
the Lord has not forgotten us, He knows what we are going through daily.
"The LORD is thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand. The sun shall
not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night." Psalm 121:5,6

Conflict tests us in many ways. When faced with conflict, we start questioning our
whole purpose of life in this world. The book of Job shows us the different shades
of problems, limitation, tragedies and temptation in times of conflict which ultimately was turned into a victory of good over evil through the providence of the Lord.
My stay in Kashmir for more than 40 days was soul stirring, a different level of
spiritual enterprise which will play a very important role in my development as an
individual. There are so many shades of different types of oppression which makes
one critically conscious about whether God has forsaken them. Are they not children
of God as well? Why do they have to go through this since birth? Is there no hope
of peace for them? Where do they find peace in times of conflict?

@delhiadventistyouth

There are so many questions but no one to answer for them. The radicalization
through religious frames has only worsened the situation for the people to live
there. Their whole purpose of life, being born and growing up in fear due to various geo-political scenario as well as in religious lines has only retard the growth as
a person to seek different frames of religion too.
The word of God has not reached to most of the parts of the state and through all
the conflict, they have hope, hope for freedom, hope for their love ones to come
back, hope that peace will return to them but is the hope deceiving them? 55
deaths, 1000 blind, thousands injured in just 14 days, 8000 cases of enforced disappearance, 4000 half widows and the atrocities witnessed every day, when will it
stop?
There can be only one God who can give them what they desire, the prince of
peace but if they dont know about him then how will they even ask?
As the remnant church, we have a lot of work to do to spread the word of God in
all parts of the world. Are we willing to be the way God wants us to be? Or is nationalism more important to us to even acknowledge and empathize with them?
Where do we find hope in hopelessness? Only in our lord Jesus Christ and faith in
his providence and his plans for us.

YOUTH WEEKEND OF PRAYER

JOEL RAO

Prayer is an essential part of the Christian life. Sadly, it is often neglected. Hence the youth of Delhi Adventist
Church decided to conduct a Weekend of Prayer at the Church on July 29 & 30. They led out in the entire
Sabbath services. The theme for the weekend was "Who Will Pray?", with a focus on intercessory prayer - for
our country, for those around us who long for hope, and for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on the church in
Southern Asia Division.

Not willing to settle with just prayer, the youth also decided to go out and
be a blessing in the community, as the Sabbath School lessons for this quarter have emphasised. The church arranged for about 120 warm meals to
be prepared for distribution.
So after the Divine Service, the youth
went to Connaught Place, which is in the
centre of the capital city to give food to
the hungry - people who struggle to get
even one decent meal a day.

The monsoon rains were incessant, but

they couldn't dampen the spirits of our
young people who walked around for
over an hour in the rain looking for people who could use a good warm meal. It
wasn't long before all the food was gone.

Though, they received food only for one

meal, it sure did make a difference as the
smiles on their faces told us. It was an eye
opener for many of the youth to experience
the struggles of everyday life that so many
people have to live with. It has probably
made a bigger impact on those of us who
were there to "help" them. We came back
feeling gratefully for the opportunity to
serve and with a longing to do more for
those in need.

On June 4th, 2016, a small group of members from Delhi Seventh day Adventist church visited the church at Gurgaon. The group took up the Sabbath

service to ADRA and to community. On behalf of Delhi Seventh day Adventist

PHILANTHROPY
Anil is studying at Roorkee Adventist High School. He is a
bright young boy and is in Class
10. He has been a part of the
Delhi Adventist church since the
time he was a little boy. He now
lives in Roorkee, but his mother
and brother continue to attend
the Delhi Adventist church.
His mother does not earn
enough to support his education. When she approached the
church for help, generous members came forward to support
them in April.
The DAY also wanted to help
him. As a result of the success
of the Food Fest, and contributions of the Delhi Adventist
Youth members, we were able
to support Anils school tuition
fees for the second quarter.
Please pray for Anil as he studies at Roorkee.
Your contributions help us to
support Anil and others like
him.
