1. CONTENT AND STRUCTURE OF THE MASTER

ESM
The study course Master Embedded System for Mechatronics Master ESM will lead to a
university degree which is highly qualified academically and professionally. The master
degree in an engineering discipline entitles its holder to carry out professional work with
emphasis on research and development in the field of engineering for which the degree
was awarded. In the area of Embedded Systems the ability to work in cross-domain
projects, to apply a systems engineering approach to the early phase of development
projects and to integrate results from different domains is required. The Master Embedded
Systems for Mechatronics provides the competences by conducting a 2 semester teaching
programme with case studies and lectures from industry experts and combining it with a 2
semester research phase with electives and thesis projects.
The 4-semester masters programme aims to provide students with the qualifications
required for the work in the relevant industry just as research and development
institutions, consultation companies or civil services.

2. ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
The admission requirements are as follows:
1. Bachelor or Diplom degree in a relevant subject
2. Proof of English language skills

2.1 Required degree

Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Engineering (three or four years), Diplom-Ingenieurin or
Diplom-Ingenieur in the field of Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or Information
Technology; or foreign equivalent with a final grade or mark of at least good (2.5). It must
be evident that previous studies included a thesis. The previous studies have to include
sufficient knowledge in Embedded Systems and Computer Science/ Electrical Engineering/
Software Engineering (together at least 40%).

2.2 Proof of English language skills

Applicants need to proof their language skills in English, certified by a Test of English as a
foreign language (TOEFL) not older than two years at the time of application. There are two
