2016 School Start


and Registration
We are well on out way to opening school without a hitch. In order to do so, we need
all families who have not completed the registration process to take immediate action.
If you have already completed registration action and participated in schedule pick-up activities, no further action is needed. If you have not completed these steps, we need your help.

Each school year, all returning students to District Five must re-register to attend their
school. This is done to ensure all contact information parents are asked to log into Registration Gateway to verify/ update their student(s) information for the 2016-2017
school year. You will be able to verify and update contacts, phone numbers, medical
conditions, review annual school and technology agreements, and your student's privacy selection. You will also be able to complete the Media Consent forms, District Acceptable Use Agreements, Health Card Information, and other important information.

You should have received an email providing your PowerSchool identification and password. If you have not received the email or need information or assistance, please call
your the school's office at 476-3600 ask for the Registrar.
We hope that this new system will make the re-registration process easier for you.

Thank you all for your support so far for the PTSO! Our organization
helps the school directly by providing volunteers to help with events,
sponsoring teacher and staff appreciation events and providing goods
for the PBIS program for the students. You can still help out in the following ways:
If you have not become a membership yet, you can for only $10. 100% of that
goes directly back to students and teachers. (see PTSO flyer on page 2)

Do you shop at Krogers or Publix? If so, go onto
www.krogercommunityrewards.com and select Irmo Middle School or stop by
Publix Customer Service and sign up for a grocery tag. This is an easy way for our
schools PTSO to earn money!
Also keep an eye out for upcoming PTSO events: Oct 7th Who Am I? Dance; and
Grouchos night on the first Tuesday of each month (starting September 6th).
Grouchos will give 10% of sales back to IMS PTSO.

A Family or Teacher Membership of $10.00 goes toward supporting programs sponsored by your PTSO
such as student activities, teacher appreciation, and other school programs. Please make checks payable to IMS

Its time to elect our School Improvement Council (SIC) parent representatives. Irmo Middle School will continue
to excel with your assistance and involvement. The SIC is comprised of six elected parents, two teachers, two
staff members, three elected students from each grade (6th, 7th and 8th grade), three to seven appointed representatives from the school and community, and five ex-officio members. The SIC at Irmo Middle serves as a liaison between the school and community by bringing together parents, educators, students, and community
stakeholders to collaborate in the continuous improvement process for our school. Meetings will be held at the
school on the third Tuesday of each month at 5:30 pm.
We will begin accepting nominations August 1, 2016 through August 15, 2016. Nominations are accepted for
any parent/guardian of an Irmo Middle School student who would be willing to serve a two-year term for rising
6th and 7th graders and a one-year term for parents of rising 8th graders for the 2016-2017 school year. Any parent interested in serving or those who wish to submit another parents name should do so with their permission
using the nomination form below. Nominations may be mailed to the address below, hand delivered to IMS in a
sealed envelope or emailed to Robert Jackson at SJackso@lexrich5.org.
The election to vote for the SIC members will be held Thursday, August 25, 2016 at IMS from 7:30 am to 6 pm.
The list of nominees will be posted on our website prior to the election. Please complete the form below if you
are interested in running for the 2016-2017 SIC and returning by August 15th.
