As of Morbidity Week No. 32 January 1 to August 13, 2016
DENGUE FEVER
FINDINGS:

There were 3008 cases of Dengue reported to the Provincial Epidemiology Surveillance Unit from January 1 to August 13, 2016. Cases were 69% higher
compared to cases of the same period last year. Age of cases ranged from 16 days old to 93 years (Median 18 years). More than half of the cases were
male (Table 1). Two thousand two hundred twenty two (74%) of cases were classified as Dengue with Warning Signs (Figure 1). There were fourteen
deaths reported from City of Koronadal and Municipalities of Surallah, Tupi, Norala, Tantangan and Banga (CFR=0.47) (Table 2).
Areas that reached the epidemic threshold for Morbidity Week 26 to 31 were Koronadal, Tupi, Norala, Tboli, Santo Nio & Lake Sebu. Areas with
highest reported cases were Tupi (22.1%) and Koronadal (21.1%) (Table 2).
Clustering of cases were noted from Banga (Improgo, El Nonok, Rizal (Bo.3), San Vicente, Yangco, Liwanay, Reyes & Punong Grande), Koronadal
City (Zone I, II, III, IV, Santa Cruz, Sarabia, Paraiso, Avancea, Zulueta, Morales, Santo Nio, San Roque, San Jose, Carpenter Hill, San Isidro,
Asumption, Concepcion & GPS), Lake Sebu (Poblacion & Talisay), Norala (Lopez Jaena, Matapol, Esperanza, Poblacion, Lapuz, Dumaguil, Puti,
Simsiman & San Miguel), Polomolok (Cannery Site, Sulit & Poblacion), Santo Nio (Panay, Manuel Roxas, Poblacion, Katupinan, Sa isidro,
Guinsang-an & San Vicente), Surallah (Colongulo, Lambontong, Dajay, Centrala & Libertad), Tampakan (Poblacion, Maltana, Buto & Lambayong),
Tantangan (Dumadalig, Poblacion & San Felipe) Tboli (Laconon, Lemsnolon, Edwards & New Dumanggas) and Tupi (Tubeng, Poblacion, Polonuling,
Bololmala, Bunao, Cebuano, Palian, Linan, Crossing Rubber, Lunen, Acmonan, Kablon & Kalkam). Hot spot areas were Brgy Morales, Zone III &
Santo Nio of Koronadal, Brgy Poblacion & Simsiman of Norala, Brgy Libertad of Surallah and Crossing Rubber, Bunao, Tubeng, Acmonan and
Tubeng of Tupi for Morbidity Week 29 to 31.
Cases were above epidemic threshold in Morbidity Week 1 to 2, 7, 14 to 15 and 27 to 31 (Figure 2).

Dengue with Warning Signs means a person with acute febrile illness of 2-7 days duration plus any one of the ff: Abdominal pain or tenderness, persistent vomiting, clinical signs of
fluid accumulation, mucosal bleeding, lethargy and restlessness, liver enlargement or laboratory (increase in Hct /or decrease platelet count). Regardless of dengue classification
(Suspect, Probable and Confirmed)

National Epidemiology Center defined clustering of cases as 3 or more cases in a barangay in four consecutive weeks.
