Welcome to the 4th Grade ALM class! My name is Mrs. Nadine Turner and I am very
excited to be your childs teacher this year! Although I have had the opportunity to talk to

some of you over the phone, I wanted to introduce myself and let you know a little about
me.
I have two teenage sons and I have been married for nearly 20 years. Trevor, my oldest
son, is a freshman in college this year at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in Prescott,
Az. My youngest son, Brandon, is a junior this year at Faith Lutheran HS. I have lived in
Las Vegas for over 25 years. I attended Western Governors University where I received
my Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education. Last spring I completed my Masters Degree
in Instructional Design.
This is my 3rd year at Bozarth Elementary School, and my second year teaching 4 th grade. I
am so excited to be teaching the ALM class this year. This year is going to be full of
amazing and exciting learning experiences!
My journey in education started as a classroom volunteer when my oldest son was in
kindergarten. I realized that I absolutely loved working with children, so I went back to
school to earn a degree in Elementary Studies.
I believe that children learn the best in a structured, caring environment. I try to make
learning not only fun, but one where students gain strength through positive reinforcement
while building their confidence and self-esteem.
What a fantastic year this is going to be! I look forward to getting to know you, your
child, and your family, as we work closely together to ensure that your child has a positive,
successful year.
Should you ever have any questions or concerns, please dont hesitate to contact me. You
can reach me by calling the school at
The best way to contact me is via email. My email is nturner@interact.ccsd.net. I check
my email before school, at lunch, after school, and during the evening hours. You can also

Frequently Asked Questions

Below are some of the questions I have been asked over the last few
years. If you have any questions that are not listed below, PLEASE
ask! That is what I am here for!

What is the best way to get a hold of you?

The best way to reach me is email which is nturner@interact.ccsd.net. I check my email

regularly throughout the day. If you need to talk to me over the phone, please call the
main number (702-799-6608), dial my extension (4061), and leave a message. I will return
your call as soon as I can.

How do you let the parents know what is going on in your classroom?

Classroom newsletters will be sent home at the beginning of every week. The newsletters
will include school and classroom happenings as well as what skills and activities will be
taught that week.
I also send update our classrooms website frequently. You can find current information,
including homework assignments and important dates.

What if I need to meet with you? Can I come into the classroom before
school or talk with you afterschool?

I make every effort to be available for my students and parents. If you need to discuss
something specific, please call or email me so we can set up an appointment. I often have
meetings before and after school and I want to make sure you are given my full attention
and that we can schedule as much time as needed to discuss your concerns.

What makes the ALM classroom different from other 4th grade classes?
Great question!!! In this class, we go through the curriculum at a faster pace than the
other 4th grade classes. Because we are able to get through much of the curriculum
faster, it allows opportunities for the students to apply what they have learned at a
deeper level and complete project based activities. Students will learn to take an active
role in their learning.
Our classroom theme this year is From Student to Scholar. Students will learn what it
means to become a scholar, and how scholars think differently about their learning.

Project Based Learning. Does that mean there will be a lot of at home projects my
child is going to have to complete?
NO! While part of your childs homework may be to complete a small portion of the
project, or to research a particular topic at home, the majority of the project will be done
in class. Most projects completed will be done in a collaborative group. Students will learn
how to complete projects by equally participating and sharing responsibilities in a group.
Will my child be pulled out of class for GATE?

No! That is a wonderful part of the ALM model. The gate teacher will come into our class
and we will work together in a co-teaching environment. We will work together to create
project based activities that allow the students to apply, create, and analyze the
knowledge they have learned in class.
