Welcome

from Pastor Charity & the Better Together Coaches

Youre about to browse ways to be better together. In this catalog, youll find a
list of all kinds of groups that you can be part of. A Better Together Group is a
gathering of people who have ventured to share an experience of faith. Groups
will meet weekly and share together in learning, service, prayer, and fun.
Some groups last one semester (6-8 weeks); others last for a year. Either way, I
hope your experience in a Better Together Group will be just what you needed,
just when you needed it.
Gods vision is that we become a church of groups. We do this by modeling the
Church in Acts, but with a 21st Century spin. I pray one day that we meet all
over the city of Columbia, any day and time of the week; meeting to pray, study,
grow and have fun together in the name of and for the sake of Jesus Christ. Let
me highlight a few things:

Disciple Bible Study Revived!

Disciple Bible Study is an in-depth exploration of scripture designed to not only

introduce and explore the Bible, but also assist participants in their faith walk.
Youll see three types of Disciple Bible Studies offered. One is Fast Track which
lasts for a year, but is only 75 minutes long. The second is Disciple 2; also a year
long for two hours. Lastly, a short-term study of the book of Romans will be
available. Please note you do not have to take these in sequential order.

Two Ways to Sign Up:

1. In the back of this catalog is a form you can complete and place in the
Sunday offering or drop off at the church office.
2. Sign up online at www.moumc.org/forms (Choose Better Together Groups
from the list of forms.)

Books and Paying

Some of the groups require books.

If you sign up using the form in this catalog, prepare a check for your book
(write the group name in the memo) and place in the offering or bring to the
office.

Page 3
If you sign up online, you will have the option to pay now with a credit/
debit card (then pick up the book at the office or on the first day of your group
from the facilitator) or pay later (write a check with your group name in the
memo and place in the offering, bring to the office or pay your facilitator and
pick up your book at your groups first gathering.
You can also purchase your book on your own through Amazon or your favorite
bookseller.

Group Locations

If church is listed as the location for a group, your facilitator will receive an
assigned classroom in September. They will communicate it to you. Room
assignments will also be posted in the Connector weekly.

Wednesday Night Live Presents Strangers to Changers

This new forum will focus on personal and social issues with various presenters
weekly. Its a way of connecting our communities in conversation and action. See
page 5 for more info about Strangers to Changers.
So here we go on the faith ride! Were no longer riding alone, but going on an
adventure together.
Better Together,
Pastor Charity

witness, over six weeks.
Participants will develop spiritual practices, discover their unique gifts and
become engaged in ministry that brings transformation in their own lives,
the lives of others, and the world. Each days reading includes a Scripture, a
message for the day, questions and prompts for personal reflection (with space
provided for recording responses) and prayer.
Upon completion of the group, those who desire to join the church will be
welcomed.

STC @ WNL

Strangers to Changers is a new forum held on Wednesday nights from 6-7pm

starting Sept. 7. It will feature a monthly series based on a personal or social
issue.
A different speaker each week will address the topic from their vantage point.
After a 20-minute presentation, table groups will discuss ways to put what
theyve heard into action even if its only one small action step. You can still
bring your own dinner at 5:30. However, there will also be light refreshments
and beverages available starting at 5:30 throughout the evening. Childcare is
provided.
The September series is personal development based on the Socrates quote
the unexamined life is not worth living. Topics such as personality profiles,
values, knowing whos on your team, financial and media literacy will be
presented and discussed.
