White's Model of Communication:


Is a step-by-step process
starts with thinking in the speaker ends with monitoring with the speaker.

Listener:

Reactor Does not initiate communication

The 8 Stages that take place in communication:


1.Thinking

Provides the speaker a stimulus to communicate a need.

2.Symbolizing

Knowing the oral language to represent ideas

3.Expressing
Uses the vocal mechanism

body stances

4.Transmitting

The sending out of the message

5.Receiving

The Taking in of the information.

6.Decoding

Interprets the language symbols received

7.Feed backing

The response about an activity

May show overt behavior or no behavior at all

8.Monitoring

Watching signs of reception among listeners in order to adjust to the situation.


The complete act of communication is an interacting pattern of stimulus and response
