Description
National Sawdust (NS) is a new nonprofit music venue dedicated to providing outstanding facilities and programmatic support to a wide range
of composers and musicians fostering their artistic progress and nurturing their musical discoveries. Led by the pioneering young composer,
entrepreneur and educator Paola Prestini, NS also seeks to build a new audience for new music through vibrant programs that span genres.
Since opening the doors of its state-of-the-art performance hall on October 1, 2015, more than 25,000 audience members have experienced
more than 320 NS performances. Core NS programs include artist and group residencies; festival programming; free community programs; and
VisionIntoArt, NS' in-house multimedia production company, which incubates, produces/commissions, and disseminates cross-disciplinary
works both at NS and at other venues.
NS concerts regularly receive glowing reviews from top arts critics, and we were named in the Best of 2015 lists by both the Times and New
York. In February, the Times referred to NS as the citys most vibrant new-music hall, and we were a finalist for the Classical:NEXT Innovation
Award, which honors forward-thinking activities taking place around the world.
