This is task is applicable whenever the aircraft & its water system
remain dormant (without use) for a period of 3 days, the water sytem
must be drained of stagnant standing water and filled with fresh
protable water to prevent bacterial and biomass growth within the
water system. The drinking of three day old aircraft stagnant water
without first purging the water system can result in gastrointestinal
illness.

Gauge - Tire Pressure, 0-300 PSIG (0-2069 KPA)
A. Consumable Materials:
(1) Dry Nitrogen - Commercial grade (99.5 percent pure nitrogen), from a regulated pressure source
(2) Air Source - clean dry with a maximum moisture content that corresponds to an atmospheric dew point of -20
degrees F (-29degrees C),from a regulated pressure source.
B. Check on the Tire Pressure:
(1) Make sure the tires are cool before you measure the tire pressure.
NOTE: Let the tires cool for a minimum of two hours after the airplane has landed.
(a) If the main landing gear tires and nose gear tires are too hot to check the tire pressure, and there is not enough
time to allow the tires to cool before the airplane is dispatched, do the Main Landing Gear and Nose Gear HOT
Tire Pressure Check.
CAUTION: Use a calibrated gage with an approved size dial to do a check on the tire pressure, incorrect inflation
from incorrect pressure values can cause damage to the tire.
(2) Do a check on the tire pressure with an accurate 0-300 psig (0-2069 kpa) tire pressure gauge, STD 1132.
(a) Let the tires cool for a minimum of two hours after a flight before doing the tire pressure check.
(3) Compare the measured pressure to the pressure found in the main and nose gear tire pressure limit
charts (Figure 1).

(4) Do these steps for tires which have tire pressures below the necessary pressure:
(a) If the measured tire pressure is below the necessary pressure by no more than 5%, inflate the tire to
the necessary pressure.
(b) If the measured tire pressure is between 5% - 10% below the necessary tire pressure, do these steps
(1) Inflate the tire to the necessary pressure.
(2) Do a check of the tire pressure again after 24 hours.
CAUTION: Tires that require frequent refills to maintain the nominal service pressure are likely to have a tread
loss or carcass rupture if they are left in service too long. These tires should be removed from service as soon
as possible.
3) If the tire pressure is more than 5% below the necessary pressure again, replace the tire.
a) Send the wheel and tire assembly for an inspection to find the cause for the low pressure.
b) Mark the reason for the tire removal on the tire to aid the inspectors when they examine the tire.
c) If the measured pressure is between 10% - 20% below the necessary tire pressure, do these steps
1) Replace the tire and wheel assembly.
2) Send the wheel and tire assembly for an inspection to find the cause for the low tire pressure.
3) Mark the reason for the tire removal on the tire to aid the inspectors when they examine the tire.
d) If the measured tire pressure is more than 20% below the necessary tire pressure, do these steps:
1) Replace the tire and wheel assembly.
2) Send the wheel and tire assembly for an inspection to find the cause for the low tire pressure.
3) Mark the reason for the tire removal on the tire to aid the inspectors when they examine the tire.
4) If the wheel and tire assembly has turned with the airplane weight on it after the pressure had
decreased,replace the wheel and tire assembly installed on the opposite side of that axle.
5) Mark on the tire that it was on the same axle with a wheel and tire assembly that was replaced because of
low tire pressure.
6) Send the tire for inspection for damage.

Visually check the exposed areas of the left engine last stage turbine
blades for cracks, condition and security of installation. Check inlet cowl,
nose dome and visible fan blades for obvious damage. Check thrust
reverser, vortex generator, exhaust tail plug and exhaust case struts for
obvious damage. Check for open latches and blow out panels and for
signs of fluid leakage.

A. General
(1) The following paragraph provides a definition to be used during a scheduled maintenance task.
B. Inspection
(1) Do the Detailed Visual inspection. A Detail Visual inspection is an intensive examination of a specific item,
installation to detect irregularity. Available lighting is normally supplemented with a direct source of good lighting at an
intensity deemed appropriate. Inspection aids such as mirrors, magnifying lenses, etc. may be necessary. Surface
cleaning and elaborate access procedures may be required.

4) Do the Operational Test.
(a) Turn the dc meters switch on the P5-13 panel to TR3.
(1) Make sure that the dc voltmeter shows 26 4 volts.
(b) Push the POSITION light switch on the P5 overhead panel to the ON BATT or STEADY position

NOTE: The POSITION light switch is located on the lower right of the P5 panel.
(c) Make sure that the dc ammeter indication increases approximately 5 amperes.
(d) Push the POSITION switch to the OFF position.
(e) Make sure that the dc ammeter indication decreases approximately 5 amperes (returns to its original value).
(f) Turn the dc meters switch to BAT BUS.
1) Make sure that the dc voltmeter shows approximately the same voltage as for the TR3 position ( 0.5volt).
(g) Push the STANDBY POWER switch to OFF.
(1) Make sure that the STANDBY POWER OFF light comes on.
(2) Turn the ac meters switch on the P5-13 panel to STBY PWR.
(a) Make sure that the ac voltmeter shows no voltage.
(3) Turn the dc meters switch to STBY PWR.
(a) Make sure that the dc voltmeter shows 0-5 volts.
(h) Push the STANDBY POWER switch to AUTO.
(1) Make sure these indications occur:
a) The STANDBY PWR OFF light goes off
b) The dc voltmeter shows 26 4 volts
c) The ac voltmeter shows 115 5 volt
d) The frequency meter shows 400 5 Hz
(i) Push the GRD PWR switch or the APU GEN No. 1 and No. 2 switches to OFF.
1) Make sure that the STANDBY PWR OFF light comes on.
2) Turn the dc meters switch to these positions and look for the correct voltages on the dc voltmeter:
a) TR3 - 0 volts
b) BAT - 24 4 volts
c) BAT BUS - approximately the same as for the BAT position ( 0.5 volts)
d) STBY PWR - 0 volts
3) Turn the AC meters switch to INV.
4) Make sure that the ac voltmeter shows no voltage.
(j) Open the forward access door near the nose landing gear.
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF THE LEADING EDGE SLATS
BEFORE YOU PUT THE AIRPLANE IN THE AIR MODE.THE LEADING EDGE SLATS CAN EXTEND
AUTOMATICALLY WHEN YOU PUT THE AIRPLANE IN THE AIR MODE. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS
AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(k) Put a deactuator between the ground safety sensor, S105 and its target.
NOTE: S105 is located near the right main landing gear.

Clean exposed surface of left main landing gear strut piston with a cloth moistened with MIL-H-5606
hydraulic fluid and wipe with dry cloth. Check X-dimension extension on strut piston to verify that
piston is not flat.
1. Main Landing Gear Shock Strut Servicing (Right/Left)
A. General
(1) This procedure is a scheduled maintenance task.
B. Procedure
(1) Clean exposed surface of main landing gear strut piston with a cloth moistened with
MIL-H-5606 hydraulic fluid and wipe with dry cloth. Check X-dimension extension on
strut piston to verify that piston is not flat.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------1. Nose Landing Gear Shock Strut Servicing
A. General
(1) This procedure is a scheduled maintenance task.
B. Procedure
(1) Clean exposed surface of noselanding gear strut piston with a cloth moistened with
MIL-H-5606 hydraulic fluid and wipe with dry cloth. Check X-dimension extension on
strut piston to verify that piston is not flat.
Fuel Tank Sumping
MECH
Drain sumps for fuel tank 1,2 and center wing, drain APU fuel line

shroud for the removal of the water from the fuel tanks as per AMM
12-11-01.
AME
NOTE: Before you sump the tank, a quantity of time is necessary for the separation of water from fuel. The
time rate to isolate the fuel from the water is 1 hour for each foot of fuel depth.
- Look at each fuel sample for water, for ice, or for contamination. Water in the fuel usually shows as a layer
below the fuel or as small bubbles in the fuel. The ice crystals usually show as cloudiness or a haziness in the
fuel. Fuel with no water, ice or contamination is clear and bright. You can easily see material through it.
NOTE: Jet-A fuel can have different colors. It can have a range of colors from yellow (straw) colors to no color.
The words "clear and bright" do not refer to the color of fuel. Yellow fuel or fuel that has no color can be "clear
and bright" as specified above.
- You may put one or two drops of food coloring into the transparent container, before you drain fuel samples
from each sump valve into it. This will help you find water in the fuel, since the water will have color.
-Drain the tank sumps sufficiently to make sure you remove water or other contamination from the system.
