professional development. Teachers work in teams of two, one teacher math and science the
other history and language arts. The curriculum web was created for 6th grade art class though
all teachers will benefit from creating webs for their classroom. They can create in their teams or
as grade level working on a themed unit.
Anticipatory Set: (20minutes)
Teachers will be asked what are some of their concerns while teaching a topic to their
students. Some may answer engagement, understanding, reviewing information, or maybe
targeted different learning levels or styles. Then teacher will watch the video on Aboriginal
Storytelling to familiarize themselves with how a curriculum web is set up. This will allow

Running Head: PROFESSIONAL DEVELOP LESSON

Teacher will watch a presentation on how to navigate through a web using the Aboriginal
Story Telling web curriculum. Teachers can see how this web will be used in the art room and
how it meets the learning objectives. They will explore the web curriculum tabs, its lesson plans,
activities, and components on individual computers for further understanding of how students
can navigate the site.
Guided Practice: (20-30minutes)
Teachers will be shown through demonstration how to start creating their web curriculum.
We will start with the log in information to obtain access into a blog site. Demonstration will
allow teachers to set up tabs, topics, and sub topics. While demonstration is occurring trainer will
check for understanding. Demonstration will conclude with uploading a lesson plan or activity.
Once teachers have a basic understanding of set-up then teachers will start creating their own
after break.
Break: 15minutes
Checking for Understanding: (15minutes)
A question and answer time will allow teachers to gain a better understanding of web
curriculum. Teacher ma ask question on the use of web in their content area or specific questions
on creating. After this discussion time teachers will start their independence practice of creating
their web.
Independence Practice: (90-120minutes)
Teacher will begin to create a curriculum web for their grade level. Teachers will be grouped
by grade level and subject they teach. First teachers will set up web curriculum with pages and

tabs. After they have the skeleton of their web, they will retrieve images to incorporate. Those
who have lessons plans available on line or on USB can start to down load them to their proper
places. Teachers will continue to work throughout this session to complete as much of the web
that they can.
Think Pair and Share: (45-60 minutes)
Teachers will work within the groups they have paired up with for think pair and share.
