We have restructured the Artscoursesin Years68 to maximisethe learning


opportunities for each yeargroup. Instead of taking Drama3lessonsaweek
for atrimester, youwillnowhave2lessonsofDramaaweekforthewholeof
year 7! This means the chance to explore even more exciting theatre
practices and ideas in class, participate in more workshops

and create even


more of your own performance work. Don't forget that on top of this,
through studying Drama you develop many key transferable skills that can
helpyou inallof yourschoolsubjects,suchascreative
thinking,collaborative
and
leadershipskills.

planning andideas aswell as presenting yoursummative assessments. Your

UnitOneMovement(WorldTheatre)

Statement of Inquiry Movement can be a powerful tool for


communication and is an essential element of performance traditions
fromdifferenttimesandplaces.

through our use of movement? How does our culture impact our

During this unit you will explore movement conventions from different
times and places, and create, perform and present your own movement
pieces!

TaskOnePhysicalTheatreProcess,ProductandResponseDueweek
beginning24thOctober
Forthisassessmentyouwilldeviseandperformapieceofphysicaltheatre(in
pairs or threes) that is based on the Chair Duets technique (Frantic
Assembly). You will needto record thewaysinwhichyouhaveacquiredand
developed new physical theatre skills (Bi), as well asshowing howyou have
appliedtheseinyourperformancework(Bii).
You need to provide the evidence for Bi through film clips and/or
photographs that are taken duringrehearsals (forexample image oneshows

the first practice, image two shows your fourth practice and image three
shows your final rehearsal.) You must provide an annotation/voiceover for
each to explain what is being shown, and explain your learning and the
challengesyouhavefacedinlearningthesenewperformanceskills.
You willalsosubmitashortreflectioninwhichyoushouldfocusonyourwork
as an individual throughout the process of devising and performing your
piece. You must explain some of things that influenced and inspired you
duringthecreativeprocess.
