Dear Families,

On behalf of the staff and families of Triangle Math and Science Academy, welcome
to Kindergarten! We are very excited about the start of the school year and look
forward to getting to know your child and family. You are joining a well-rounded
school family and we are honored to have you become a part of our community. We
hope you will find the information below helpful in preparing your family for an
exceptional first year of school. The following information will give you a better
understanding of our Kindergarten program.

Kindergarten Staggered Entry Plan

At TMSA, we participate in staggered entry. This process encourages a gradual
transition from home to school and ensures your childs first day is calm and
positive. Each kindergartener is assigned a staggered entry day and will come to
school only on that day during the first week of school (August 24th- August
27th). This process gives the teachers time to greet and work with each child
individually, calm fears, and give the initial set of kindergarten assessment
screenings. Children will meet all of the kindergarten teachers and a few
classmates on this day. Please check the chart below to identify the date your child
will come to school for the first week.

Meet Your Teacher for Kindergarten Families

Parents are invited to meet their childs teacher on Monday, August 29 th, 2016 from
7:50 AM- 8:20 AM for meet your teacher. At this informal, drop-in event, parents
and kindergarteners can learn of their teacher assignments and have an
opportunity to visit their classroom. Class rosters will be posted at 7:30 AM in the
student entrance on this day. Parents should park and walk their child in through
the student entrance. A sign-in sheet will be set-up
Arrival Procedures
We recommend that you drop your child off in Room 120 on their
staggered entry day. Students may be dropped off by their parents at their
classrooms between 7:50 AM- 8:00 AM. Parents may also drop their students off
to their classrooms on Meet Your Teacher day Monday, August 29 th. After Monday,
August 29th, we encourage you to drop your child off in carpool or send them on the
bus. We ask that kindergarten students walk to and from their classes without
parents after their first day on Monday, August 29 th.
Dismissal Procedures
Carpool students are to be picked up from the carpool lane. Each carpool student
will receive a carpool decal to hang in their car and each student will have an
assigned carpool number. We ask that drivers adhere to our safety procedures.
Please refrain from using your cell phone while driving through carpool. Our safety
procedures and policies will be strongly enforced to ensure that our students and
staff can enter and exit the building without risk of injury.
Elementary bus riders will be dismissed at 3:10 PM and will exit through the
student entrance. Buses will depart from the school by 3:20 PM. Please call our
main office with any questions regarding bus transportation and routes.
Health Assessment Forms
All kindergarten students need to have their Health Assessment Forms and
Immunization Record completed by a physician and on file in their official school
record. Parents need to bring the completed form to the main office within the first
30 days of school if it has not already been turned in. Students will not be
permitted to attend school until the form is submitted.
