Sika Rokkon Grout

Construction

Ready to use high early strength

Cementitious Grout for Rock Bolting

Description

Sika Rokkon Grout is a 1 component ready to use cementitious grout

developing quickly mechanical strength for rock bolting purpose.
It can be used either post or pre grouted rock bolts.
Thanks to its early setting properties, under certain circumstances, it might
be used where rock bolting needs to be executed under difficult conditions
(water seepage) without requiring peliminary dewatering work.

Uses

Sika Rokkon Grout is used for the grouting of rock bolts, soil nails that
are used in any underground construction or for slopes stabilization when
high early strengths development is required.
Sika Rokkon Grout can be used for any fixing or anchoring work such as
anchoring of the ventilation tube, survey reference marks.
Sika Rokkon Grout with 5-10 mm aggregate can be used as back filling
mortar or micro concrete for repair or construction work when early strength
are required.
It is the substitute product of Sika Rokkon C-VN (cementitious cartridge)
when the rock bolt need to be fully grouted or when the number of cartridges
of Sika Rokkon C-VN required for rock bolting purpose became to
important.
Thanks to its fast reactive properties, Sika Rokkon Grout can be used for
other purposes than rock bolt grouting, for instance cavities back filling,
soils stabilization for instance. In that case, please contact Sika Technical
Department

Advantages

Sika Rokkon Grout:

Reliability: 1 single component factory manufactured, need only water
addition
Non shrink: controlled expansion counteracts shrinkage to provide
effective contact with rock and effective steel corrosion protection ofthe
rock bolts
Chloride free: develops early strength without the use of chloride and
makes it safe to use with embedded steel.
Possibility to adjust the consistency of the grout from flowable to
thixotropic consistency.
Early initial and final set with high early strength development allowing
further construction work (such as blasting work) without delay.

Borehole must be drilled to the specified depth using either a rotary or a

percussive drilling machine.
Hole must be clean by mean of air under pressure and water to ensure
that it is free of obstruction.
Mixing:
1. Determine the maximal volume of grout that can accommodate the mixer
in order to calculate the number of bags required per batch.
2. Prior mixing / pumping, the pumping line prior grouting work should be
fully rinsed with water.
3. Pour clean water into the mixer and start pumping in circulation.
4. Spill out all water from the equipment (mixer, agitator, pump and pumping
line).
5. Pour the required volume of water as per the number of Sika Rokkon
Grout bags and as per the consistency required.
6. Start the mixer while adding the designated number of bags of Sika
Rokkon Grout.
7. Keep stirring until a homogeneous mix is produced while complying with
the consistency wished. Approximately 3 minutes

Pumping / Discharging:
1. Start pumping the grout in circulation back to the mixer.
2. Once the grout has been sent back to the hopper of the mixer, start
bored hole grouting
3. Repeat mixing as long as Sika Rokkon Grout is required.
4. When grouting work has been completed, fill the hopper of the mixer
with water and continue pumping in circulation the water to clean and
rinse the whole system.
Pumping equipment
The type of pump available might dictate the type of anchor system (post
or pre grouted).
Sika Rokkon Grout is preferably pumped with mechanical pump such as
screw pump, squeeze pump or piston pump.
It is advisable to use Sika Clean 10 to remove any hardenen part of
Sika Rokkon Grout that might bond onto the equipment.

Note on applications/ limits

For large volume of grout it is advisable to apply a high W/P ratio

(<26%) in order to keep longer the consistency of Sika Rokkon
Grout while mixed.
Thanks to exothermic reaction the early strength would be still in the
range as stated above
