Gerber went on to be
named an honorable mention all-state defensive lineman and is now playing at
Army.
You cant replace a player like Michael. He was the
conference lineman of the
year on offense and defense
for a reason, Prahl said.
Instead of trying to

Stoughton quaterback Noah Guerin (5) hands off to running back Brady Schipper Aug. 19 against DeForest. Guerin threw for

up front in our D-line we need to have better play out of our linebackers this year.
Senior honorable mention defensive
lineman Tony Akale is Oregons lone
returning all-conference player and should
lead the Panthers in the trenches.
Oregon lost unanimous first team defensive tackle Jake Odegard and defensive
back Sam Mueller and second-team linebacker Max Chase.
A freshman starter a year ago, inside
linebacker John Klus played like an
all-conference player at times and could
well develop into one of the better linebackers in the conference this year.
Kissling said while it sounds like a broken record, Monona Grove has to again
be the favorite to repeat as conference
champs. The Silver Eagles and Milton
shared the title with 5-1 records.
Oregon finished 4-2 in the Badger South
and 7-4 overall to return to the playoffs,
but lost 42-14 to Badger on the road in the
Division 2 Level 1 game.
Were trying to win conference again
this year, Rader said. We could have had
it last year but we kind of spun our wheels
a little bit. I were a top-three team in the
conference.
Both Milton and Monona Grove enter
this season with question marks and new
head coaches.
MG loses (running back) Toren
(Young). He was a hell of a player, Rader
said. Milton returns a lot of good players
and should be the team to be this year.
Oregon senior quarterback Steven Moravec (15) got the start for a young Panthers offense
Aug. 19 against Waunakee. The Panthers opened the season with a 30-13 loss.

Fort Atkinson has tied Monroe in the bottom of the Badger South Conference the
past two years.
Returning a trio of all-conference offensive players, including the Badger Souths
leading passer, the Blackhawks are hoping
for much more improvement this season.
Second team all-conference quarterback
Matt Romens led the conference with 1,900
yards passing and 15 touchdowns through
the air, completing 55.6 percent of his passes. He did turn the ball over nine times,
however.
Who will be on the otherside of Romens
passes this year is a big question, though.
Fort Atkinsons pass happy offensive, which
averaged 21.6 points per game, will need to
find someone to replace unanimous firstteam wide receiver Dylan Bernard.
Bernard hauled in a conference-best 893
yards on 48 balls. The UW-Whitewater
commit added six touchdowns.
Unanimous first team running back Preston Strasburg returns after averaged 4.5
