CourseDescription:

SpanishIIisacourseforlearnerswithaboutoneyearofexperiencespeakingSpanish.Bytheendoftheyearlearnerswillbe
abletoaskandanswersimplequestionsaboutfamiliartopicsusingphrasesandsimplesentences,sometimessupportedby
memorizedlanguage.

Learnerscollaboratetomakeandunderstandmeaninginthetargetlanguage,rememberingthatthereisnosinglecorrect
answer.Learnersuseinformationtobuildtheirownideasandconnectlearningacrosssubjectareas.

Learnershavecontroloverwhattheylearn.LearnersdemonstrateevidenceofCommonCorealignedlearningtargetsand
demonstrateproficiencyduringourbiweeklysummativeassessments.Learnersformthreepersonteamseverytwoweekstoset
goalsandsupporteachotherbeforethesummativeassessments.

Learnersearncreditassoonastheymeetallindicatorstatementsandproficiencyguidelines.Inthecaseofthelearnerearning

3. Onlywhenastudenthasmasteredallcoursecompetencieswillthefinalcoursescorebecalculatedbyaveragingthe
individualcoursecompetencies.
4. Rollingprogressreportsareissuedapproximatelyeverynine(9)weeks.
5. Studentsareencouragedtorecovermissedcompetenciesthroughoutthecourseandnotwaituntiltheendofa
course/coursefailure.

Amidtermsummativeassessmentwilloccurattheendofthefirstsemesterandwillbeusedtopreparestudentsfor
college,giveanopportunitytoshowmasteryofcompetencies,and/ordevelopcompetencyrecoveryplans.
