Course Description

Students in English II read, discuss, and write about both


classical and contemporary world literature (excluding

Grading Policy
As a general rule, homework/classwork will be counted once,
quizzes twice, & tests/projects two-three times (depending on
the rigor of the assignment). These weights may be
applied/adjusted at the discretion of the grade-level English
teachers, and students will be informed of changes.
We will use the new 10-point grading scale.
100-90=A 89-80=B 79-70=C 69-60=D 59below=F

Cheating and
Plagiarism

In order to receive the greatest benefit


from this class, students should turn in
their work on time as assigned.
Homework assignments WILL NOT be
accepted late, unless the student was
absent the day before. Other late
assignments will have fifteen points per
day deducted and will not be accepted
after 5 days. If a student is absent, it is
his or her responsibility to get any
assignments given during the absence.

Students are expected to follow all KMHS rules, in addition

to rules posted by the teacher. KMHSs cell phone and dress code
policies will be strictly enforced!
Be on time and in your seat when the bell rings; remain seated until
dismissed by Mrs. Robinson.
Be respectful of peers and the teacher in both language and actions.
No restroom breaks unless you have a true EMERGENCYutilize the 7
minute class change.
Follow all directions and classroom proceduresdo not disrupt
instruction.

Meet Your Teacher


Jenny L. Robinson, M. Ed.has lived in Kings
Mountain since she was four years old. She
graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of
Arts in Middle Grades Social Studies Education. She
then continued her education at Appalachian State
University, receiving her Masters degree in
Language Arts Education. Since 2011, Mrs. Robinson
has been employed by Cleveland County Schools as
an English teacher. She taught at Burns High School
for five years before returning to her alma mater this
year.
Mrs. Robinson has been married to Trey, also a
teacher in CCS, since 2012, and they have two
children, Brooks (2) and Quinn (3 months). Most of
her spare time is spent playing with her sweet
babies, but you may see her running around town as
she is training for a half marathon in November. She
is also in the middle of obtaining her National Board
Certification for Young Adult Literacy. Prayers are

Smart Lunch
Tutorials
Tutorials are designed to
help your student
achieve success. If a
students grade is a D or
below, he/she is required
to attend tutorial until
the grade rises to a C or
higher. Failing to attend
an assigned tutorial will
result in an office referral
and lunch detention.
Please keep in mind that
you should attend
English tutorial even if it
isnt assigned! English
tutorials are Tuesday
