1. The ducting work of the mechanical ventilation system shall be constructed according to the SMACNA standard. 2. The material of the ducting work shall be Galvanized Iron. The thicknesses of the G.I. are up to 300mm (24 gauge), 301mm to 600mm (22 gauge) and 601mm to 750mm (22 gauge) thick GI will be used. 3. All ductworks are fabricated to SMACNA standard. The transverse joint between two lengths of ductworks is C and S clip joint. 4. The ductworks are fabricated by using C and S clip Fabricating Machine where the ductwork is fabricated according to the sizes required. Then the G.I. flat sheet shall be folded to the sizes required as indicated in the layout plan. G.I. rods are installed at the center of each length of the ductwork as additional support so that the ductwork is rigid as the sizes required. 5. The hanging bracket of the ductwork is fabricated by using G.I Threaded Rod and angle iron. The hanging arms are fabricated using 5/16 mm G.I threaded rod. The horizontal supports are fabricated by using 25 mm x 3 mm angle iron where the ductwork are sitting on. The hanging arm (G.I threaded rod) is hanged to the concrete floor slab by mean of the G.I threaded rods penetrate into the floor slab using 5/16mm drop in anchor. At the other end of the hanging G.I threaded rod bolts and nuts are used to secure between the hanging arm and the horizontal support angle iron. Each complete set of hanging bracket consists of two hanging arm and one horizontal support. 6. The above process will be repeated for the whole length of the ductworks to be installed to the position as required. 7. Additional support will be added to the hanging bracket of the ductwork pending the recommendation from the C & S Structure Engineer. 8. The duct opening at grille location will be provided a slide bend or drop to prevent rainwater back flow. 9. The end section of the duct which near the grille location will apply insulation to prevent corrosion.
