a. Weights as indicated on the pump outline drawing 814.201xxx.00. Pump weight is approximately
103,500 kg, pump drive train is approximately 27,000 kg.
b. We have calculated the dynamic loads using general guidelines as defined in "Design of
structures and foundations for vibrating machines" based on the unbalanced reciprocating mass
inside the pump power end.
Primary forces:
0N
Secundary forces:
0N
Primary couples:
35,703 Nm
Secundary couples:
2,424 Nm
Dynamic forces are 0 N because the three cranks are positioned at an angle of 120 , the crankshaft
is considered to be in balance.
Other calculated values are rather low because of the low pump speed (51.8 spm)
For this reason we recommend to design the foundation based on the static weights only and
increase the static weight with a ratio of 1.5 for the pump and 1.75 for the drive train to consider the
dynamic forces during start up and operation.
c. The torque with the pump operating at max. operating pressure between gearbox and power end
is fluctuating between 183,2 kNm and 275,7 kNm.
Given the width of the gearbox base (2700 mm) this results in a vertical force fluctuating between
67.8 kN and 102.1 kN. Assuming this load is taken by the three outside anchors the vertical load for
each individual anchor is 34 kN.
d. For pump design purpose following external nozzle loadings have been assumed and considered:
Connection
Discharge 10" - 1500 lbs
Suction 12" - 150 lbs
Max Force
10 kN
12 kN
Max moment
15 kNm
18 kNm
These resulting forces and moments are the allowable forces and moments in any direction,
including the most critical direction.
Actual external nozzle loadings are to be determined by the designer of the piping configuration.

e. In case multiple pumps are arranged on a common suction or discharge header there will be a risk
of resonance interaction in the piping connecting these pumps. If so required we can offer to review
the piping layout to determine if such interaction can occur. In case of no interaction between
multiple pumps, the piping connected to each individual pump is still subjected to the forces caused
by the residual pulsation level in the pump suction/discharge dampeners. The piping supports and
its foundations close the pump inlet and outlet connections have to be designed to take following
forces (in the direction of each pipe section).
Connection
Discharge 10" - 1500 lbs
Suction 12" - 150 lbs
Dynamic Force
27863 N
1482 N
Applicable frequencies:
Pump 0.26 2.59 Hz (corresponds with 5.2 - 51.8 pump spm)
Motor 6.50 64.75 Hz (corresponds with 5.2 51.8 pump spm)
