ACT ONE
EXT. MEDICAL CENTRE - DAY
A depressed NOAH, downcast, 18, in long sleeve shirt and
green watch, leaves the place. He crosses the road and
continues walking.
INT. NOAHS ROOM - DAY
Noah reaches home. There are empty pill bottles on his desk.
He takes out a new bottle from the white plastic bag. He
lays the bottle on his desk.
He picks up a medical certificate. Written in
bold:"Depression" and "Noah Lim"
Quick cuts of the self mutilation at a bathtub occurs. Noah
scrambles to get the bottle of pills on the table. Noah pops
in the pills.
The surroundings starts to swirl and he flops on the bed.
* INT. NOAHS LIVING ROOM - DAY
Noah wakes up the next morning from the sound of the sound
of his father, MR LIM, short tempered, sharp tongue, yelling
at his wife, MRS LIM, irresponsible over the phone. He
adjusts his calendar to the 8th of February 2012. Noah
opens his room door and eavesdrop.
DAD
Vivian, can you please just come
home already?
MOM
(other end of the line)
Im not coming home unless you
solve the problem in that house.
DAD
He is also your responsiblity! I
cannot afford his medication bills.
MOM
Then Im not coming home!

DAD
What do you mean you dont want to
come home? YOU gave birth to a son
with no talents but so many
problems!
MOM
Enough of this. I dont want to be
back in a house without Adrian!
DAD
All you do is to bring up Adrian in
your conversations! "Adrian this..
Adrian that!" Forget it! Dont come
home! I dont need you anymore.
Noah slams the door close, cups his ears and hugs his knees.
He grabs a pen knife from the desk and cuts himself. He
closes his eyes. Suddenly, his eyes pops open when Dr.
SHANTI, MENTOR, voice plays in his head.
DOCTOR (V.O)
Youre a bright boy, Noah. Youve
got a promising future ahead of
you.
INT. DOCTORS OFFICE - DAY
Noah and Dr. sits opposite each other awkwardly. Noah looks
nervous.
DOCTOR (CONT)
This is all I can do for you, Noah.
If you desire for change, then the
rest is up to you.
NOAH
But I dont know what to do...
DOCTOR SHANTI
You stand to lose nothing, Noah, I
promise. Think of how Adrian would
feel if he sees you like this?
INT. NOAHS ROOM - DAY
Noah smiles. He walks past a blur picture of a boy on his
desk.

DOCTOR SHANTI (V.O)

Running is amazing. It releases a
sense of euphoria like nothing
else. Not only is it a form of
exercise, it also serves as a form
of therapy. You should try it.
Montages of Noah, grabbing running shoes, bending down and
ties shoelaces
(ZOOM IN ON THE GREEN WATCH)
DISSOLVE TO
EXT. THE PARK - DAY
(ZOOM IN AT THE GREEN WATCH)
Noah jogs. Noah passes by a curb when a girl overtakes him.
Noah scoffs. He notices that she has the same watch as him.
FAY, mysterious, cheerful, 18, runs at a reasonable pace.
Noah speeds up to catch up with her.
He overtakes her, then she overtakes him, and so on until
they both end up laughing about it.
Noah looks at Fay nervously. Fay strikes a conversation.
FAY
Hey! Are you new here? Ive never
seen you before.
NOAH
Yeah. Its my first time.
FAY
(Glances to Noahs
form)
to lose some weight?

Trying

Noah looks down at his stomach, rubs it and chuckles.

NOAH
You can tell?
Fay nods pitifully and laughs.
FAY
Im just kidding! You look fine. So
you stay near here?

NOAH
Yeah. Not too far away.
FAY
Same! If I start running from here,
I can reach home in a minute.
Noah nods awkwardly and looks down. He nervously cracks his
knuckles thinking hard about what to say next.
FAY
Umm.. Anyway, I jog here quite
often and itd be nice to have a
jogging buddy. So, jogging buddies?
NOAH
S-sure.. Ive never had one of
those before.
FAY
Great! Ive got to go now though.
Meet back here tomorrow, same time?
Noah nods and gives a shy smile. Fay jogs away.
NOAH
Hey, sorry! I didnt get your name!
Im Noah!
FAY
(jogs
backwards)

Noah smiles.
* INT. KITCHEN - EVENING
The Lim family is having dinner. The table is silent except
for the sound of clanking of cutlery and chewing. Noah has
his pills laid out behind his plate of food. After quietly
finishing his food, he pops 2 pills in his mouth.
DAD
(scoffs)
You might as well eat the whole
bottle! Your brain is still going
to be useless no matter how much
you eat!
Noah pretends to be unaffected and gives a blank expression

DAD
This is why your mother left!
Because she has a son like you!
Adrian would never bring such shame
to the family.
Upon hearing the hurtful comment, Noah pushes his chair back
and storms into his room.
INT. NOAHS ROOM - EVENING
Noah slams the door and rushes to bed. He covers himself
with the blanket and starts to shiver. Noah starts to
recalls his fathers cruel words.
Quick montage of the cuttings. Tears trickle down his face
as he collapses.
ACT TWO
INT. DR. SHANTIS OFFICE - DAY
Noah opens the door. He sits opposite him in the office
setting.
DOCTOR SHANTI
Noah! How have you been? How are
things at home?
Noah shrugs his body. Doctor Shanti slides a journal on the
desk.
DOCTOR SHANTI
I thought you might find this
useful.
Noah stares at the book, looks up in confusion at the
doctor.
DOCTOR SHANTI
I want you to write all the events
in your life that made you happy
here. It could be as small as
having a bar of chocolate.
NOAH
How will this help me? Its just a
book.

DOCTOR SHANTI
This would come in handy when you
go through difficult times in your
life. Theres always something to
remind you that better days are
ahead.
NOAH
This sounds like a load of bullDOCTOR SHANTI
Give it a shot, Noah. You never
know if you dont try.

Noah looks down at the book and flips it open. Writings on

the book about Fay. Noah writes date : 10 February, "Today,
I met Fay..."
ZOOM OUT TO
INT. NOAHS ROOM - DAY
Noah continues writing on the journal
EXT. THE PARK - DAY
FAY
(Gestures to his long-sleeve
shirt)
you hot?

Arent

NOAH
Nope.
FAY
Why do you always use long sleeves
everywhere? Singapores so hot man!
NOAH
Its none of your business
Fay is shock. She changes the subject. Fay notices his green
watch.
FAY
Hey, it looks like mine!
NOAH
Actually, I noticed the watch on
the first day we met. Thats why I
approached you.

FAY
Really? I wonder if its the same
as mine. May I take a look?
NOAH
Yeah sure!
Noah unbuckles his watch. Fay gasps. Underneath Noahs watch
is a massive scar. Fay finds out that Noah self harms.
Shock, Noah pushes Fay away and his green watch drops and
breaks. Noah jerks his arm away from her. He grabs his
broken watch and stands up to leave.
CLOSE UP TO: THE BROKEN GREEN WATCH
Fay grabs his arm.
FAY
Oh my God Noah, Im really sorry
about your watch, I didnt mean to
break it..
Fay immediately takes off her own watch and offers it to
Noah. Noah rejects her watch.
FAY
Just take it! Its the same watch!
Noah looks at her in disbelief.
NOAH
FORGET IT FAY! YOU WONT
UNDERSTAND!
FAY
Then help me to understand you,
Noah
Noah sighs and turns away.
INT. NOAHS ROOM - NIGHT (FLASHBACK)
ADRIAN, 20, loving brother, knocks on Noahs door and
enters. Noah sits up on the bed. Adrian sits on the edge of
his bed and passes him the green watch.
ADRIAN
Happy Birthday.

NOAH
You actually remembered?
ADRIAN
Even though mom and dad forgot, I
will always remember your birthday.
Noah looks at it.
NOAH
Are you serious? I dont think Ill
ever wear this.
ADRIAN
Come on lah! I think this would
suit you the best.
Adrian playfully punches him
ADRIAN
Eh quite flabby ah!
NOAH
(punches his arms playfully)
Then you think you so buff is it?
GREEN WATCH IS SEEN IN FOREGROUND. THE BROTHERS ARE
PLAYFULLY FIGHTING IN THE BACKGROUND.
EXT. THE PARK - DAY
FAY
He sounds nice! Can I meet him?
NOAH
You cant. He passed away last
year.
FAY
Im so sorry...
NOAH
Ever since Adrian died, my mom shut
herself off from the entire family
and my dad... blames me for
everything.
FAY
Noah... lets not talk about this
anymore. I know! Lets go
somewhere!

NOAH
Where?
FAY
Youll see.
ACT THREE
EXT. SWINGS - DAY
FAY
I come here whenever I feel
frustrated. It helps me think
clearly.
NOAH
You feel frustrated? Throughout
this few weeks of knowing you Ive
never seen you the slightest bit
agitated, youre perfFAY
Noah, everyone gets frustrated.
Either they show it or they dont.
NOAH
Well, what do you get upset about?
Fay hesitates
FAY
I love someone. But, he doesnt see
my worth.
NOAH
What? How can anyone not see your
worth?
At this moment, Fay turns to look Noah in the eyes
NOAH
Besides, I see your worth.
Fay smiles at him and reaches for her watch and passes it to
him. He accepts the watch this time. Noah notices that Fay
has the same exact massive scar as him. He is bewildered.

10.

INT. NOAHS ROOM - NIGHT

Noah sits at his desk and writes the last sentence "I found
myself."
Noah leaves the book on the desk and switches off the light.
INT. NOAHS ROOM - DAY
The next day, Noah walks to his desk, intending to start a
new journal entry. The book is missing!
He scrambles high and low for it, searching under his bed
and messing up his room.
Noah looks at the calendar and the date is 8th of February,
which is the same day after his discharge and when he
intends to start his new life.
Noah grabs the bottle and pills and re-looks at the symptoms
and the phrase "may result in drowsiness and false awakening
dreams" stares at him straight in the face.
Noah sighs. The phone rings and Noah picks it up
DOCTOR SHANTI
Noah! How have you been? How are
things at home?
NOAH
Im fine.
Noah is a little confused.
DOCTOR SHANTI
Ive something for you! I think you
might find it useful
NOAH
I think theres no need, Dr...
Im... Im better now.
Noah puts down the phone.
Noah grabs a short sleeved shirt to wear. His scars are
exposed. He puts on his trusty green watch and running shoes
and leaves the room.
Another green watch with a cracked screen lies on the table,
implying that he did meet Fay after all.
