Welcome Letter to Parents and Pupils For Back-To-School
Dear Parents,
On behalf of the staff at Kilkishen National School, I am happy to welcome you to the 2016-17
school year! We hope you all enjoyed a wonderful and relaxing summer. We are looking forward to
a productive partnership with you to ensure our children can achieve their highest potential.
We are delighted to welcome back Ms. Kelly Maclean to the teaching staff of Kilkishen N.S. Ms.
Maclean will be teaching Senior Infants and First class and we know she will be a huge addition to
our school. I would also like to congratulate Caroline Madden on her appointment as part-time
S.N.A in Kilkishen N.S. Caroline will combine her part-time secretary duties with her part-time
S.N.A. role in the school and will be a fantastic addition to our existing Special Needs Team.
Congratulations the pupils of Kilkishen N.S. on their success in the National Community Games
Finals. Well done to the Kilkishen U/11 Project competition winners Eadoine Moroney, Keelin
Moroney, Myra Donnellan and Aoife Frost. Congratulations also to the Girls Handball champions
of Chloe Philpott, Rebecca Burke and Katie Frost.
We hope that you will find our school website, www.kilkishen.weebly.com helpful and
informative. We will use the school website to showcase what activities take place in our school on
a daily basis, celebrate pupils achievements, and keep the school community informed about
upcoming events. I will also upload a copy of the school monthly newsletter to our website under
the Newsletter tab. Additionally, we have a Twitter account (@Kilkishenns) that we will use to
send out updates and quick announcements as we go through the school year.
In the coming year we ask that you guide and support your childs learning by ensuring that he/she:
1) Attends school daily and arrives on time, ready for the days learning experience.
2) Completes all homework assignments given by teachers.
3) Reads daily to develop a love for reading and to improve literacy skills.
4) Shares school experiences with you so that you are aware of his/her school life.
5) Demonstrates respect for pupils, staff and school property.
6) Knows that you expect him/her to try their best every day.
My main priority as teaching Principal in Kilkishen N.S. is be to ensure that every student is
provided the highest quality of education possible in a safe and supportive learning environment. If
you need to bring something to the attention of the class teacher or myself as principal, we will be
happy to meet and discuss this at a mutually convenient time. Contact the school office, put a note
in your child's diary, or email principalkilkishenns@gmail.com. Please do not interrupt pupils
teaching time.
Once again, welcome back! We thank you for your support and look forward to the coming year.
Sincerely,
Conor Harrison
School Principal.
