1 ABOUT THE ENTREPRENEUR


Name: Mohammad Sauban Khan
He is from Lucknow and did his schooling from Lucknow Christian College. After
intermediate he went to Delhi for higher studies. He did BCA from IGNOU and worked
for few call centres after his studies.
While he was working his father advised him to start something of his own in Lucknow
which is different from others in the market. So he started up with the idea of CAF
ZALAMERO with family motivation and experience of working in cafes and restaurants
in Delhi such as Blender, Of My Flavour House etc.
While working at various cafes and restaurants in Delhi, he got the idea of starting a caf
where mix and match is done according to the customer requirements. This doesnt
require much of the professionals to start with.
He is the whole proprietor and not in the partnership.
He had to face several challenges at the inception because
He wasnt aware of the market,
Trend,
Customer behaviour,
Their requirements etc.
The major problem was the availability of raw materials as a lot of things were
not available in the lucknow market.

Caf Zalamero was first opened in HAL market Lucknow and the second is Branch is in
Patrakarpuram, Gomti Nagar.
At initial level he faced difficulty of acquisition of space. He did a lot of research before starting all this
as they have target audience as youth(students).
Motive was to provide quality service and product. They also planned to provide value for money.
He admired his dad and his dad was the one who supported him in his idea of starting his own venture.
And his dad only mentors him all the time.

Brief summary of his caf:


They are mainly into segment of drink. They have varieties of drink which include shakes, mocktails,
juices. Apart from drinks they have snacks like burger, fries, maggi, etc. the main purpose is to provide
quality service in such a manner that they enjoy visiting again. They also try to create friendly and healthy
environment. They are trying to provide a place where customers can enjoy and give their views if any.

2 AN OVERVIEW ABOUT THE COMPANY


Caf Zalamero have three branches one in Indra Nagar, Second in Gomti Nagar And third in
Hazaratganj.
They are mainly into segment of drink. They have varieties of drink which include shakes,
mocktails, juices. Apart from drinks they have snacks like burger, fries, maggi, etc. the main
purpose is to provide quality service in such a manner that they enjoy visiting again. They also try
to create friendly and healthy environment. They are trying to provide a place where customers
can enjoy and give their views if any.

environment that they provide is very different . so far they have only few

7 CHALLENGES FACED BY THEM IN PRESENT? WHAT HAVE


THEY DONE TO OVERCOME THE CHALLENGES?
He has worked with HCL and various other call centers. When this idea of starting
his own venture came to his mind, he was working with Xexon India Private Limited.
He wanted to do something else from the job. So when he came to Lucknow he
thought of execution of his idea of starting his own venture. He discussed with his
friends about it in January 2015.
Problem aroused from where to start. They didnt knew their target audience. They
didnt knew about the product what to make how to make as this segment was
different. Then he came to know about the property that his elder brother holds in
Jankipuram. They had the meeting. And decided 33.3% partnership will be there of
three of them. Initial fixed cost was put up by him only. Then they need to divide the
running cost. They started in feb 23, 2015 but after 20 days clashes of share
division started. So they shut down the venture in 45 days. This business was set up
in Jankipuram near Lucknow University. The business flourished over. It went on very
well since it was a developing area and it was lucknow university international
campus. They were able to acquire customer, boost was good but the three
partners and small business so it couldnt go forward. There was no agreement and
everything was on mutual understanding. So after 45 days they winded up.
Then they started with their own Caf Zalamero in indranagar HAL. Their target
areas were indranagar and gomtinagar since indranagar was closest to their home
so they started with that location.
They faced many challenges in beginning:

Workers
Proper training to them.

8 LEARNING FROM THE INTERACTION

To be an entrepreneur or starting up new venture you must do proper market


research, start up with small and always make proper plan.
Research then plan(solid plan) then start
And make a plan B also if plan A does not work, there are difficulties in execution
of plan A in proper manner So you can switch to plan B.
Focus: till the time you are focussed with your plan nobody can compete you
