SYNOPSIS

MARKETING IN IT course is designed to introduce students to the theory and


principles of marketing. Students understanding in marketing and the implication of
information technology upon the practice of marketing is enforced in the course. The
course also includes the current issues and latest trends of marketing in the digital
age.

LEARNING OUTCOMES
Upon completion of this course, students should be able to:
1.

describe the basic principles in marketing.

2.

explain briefly marketing mix, incorporating information technology products


and services.

3.

explain effective marketing strategies using marketing mix, with consideration


on the latest issues and current trends of marketing in the digital age.

4.

discuss methods of setting up and e-marketing presence and present suitable


marketing strategy for a product.

This topic discusses the product life cycle and the difference
between marketing products and services. This topic also
includes the pricing factors and price control in the market.
Online monetary transaction is also covered in the topic.

PROMOTIONAL AND DISTRIBUTION STRATEGY

(10 : 00)

This topic focuses on the various type of promotional strategies,


trends in personal selling, distribution strategy in marketing and
channels of distribution.

4.0

TRENDS AND ISSUES

(06 : 00)

This topic discusses the current issues related to marketing in the


digital age and the current trends in setting up an e-marketing
presence.
