Grade Allocation Policy

Grades will be allocated based on the Evaluation and Assessment

schedule stated above
Each student will be given the opportunity to complete a practice test
prior to a major examination. The score that is earned on the practice
test will be used to replace the lowest grade earned on any one (1)
unit test that was previously written. If the practice test mark is lower
than all other grades received, it will not be counted.
o

In a full-year course, students will write a practice midterm (subject to

course schedule). This practice midterm can replace one unit test
grade that was completed prior to the midterm. Students will also write
a practice final, which will replace a grade from a unit test written after
the midterm.
In a semester course, students will not write a midterm, only a practice
final that will replace one unit test grade from the whole semester.
Students who fail a unit test, by scoring under 50%, will not be given
an opportunity to re-write that test.

Students are required to hand in all assignments on the due date.

Unless arrangements have been made with your teacher, late
submissions will result in the loss of up to ten percent (10%) per day,
for a maximum of five (5) days. After this period a zero (0) mark will be
given until the assignment is handed in. Assignments must be handed
in no later than one (1) week before the end of the reporting
period and the student will be deducted the five (5) day penalty on
the grade they would have received.

CIS Rules and Expectations

Arrive to class on time, prepared both mentally and physically with all
materials and in full school uniform.
Be respectful of your teacher, your classmates, yourself and your
classroom. Any actions that are seen as bullying are not tolerated and
will be dealt with according to CIS Policies and Procedures.
Personal technical devices, such as laptops or tablets, are to be used in
class only when your teacher gives permission. As stated in the CIS
Policy, cell phones are to be left in lockers at all times. Any devices that
are being used outside of these designated times will be confiscated.
It is always the students responsibility to catch up on missed
classwork. Please keep in mind that a lot of material is covered in one
class, so it is imperative that students not schedule appointments
during the school day if possible. Skipping, or unexcused absences will
not be tolerated, and will be dealt with according to CIS Policies and
Procedures.
