The investigation on August 22, 1974, in Culver City California was to be like any

other one Dr. Barry Taff had done. Believing that this would be an open and shut
case they showed up at Doris Bithers house. Not expecting much. Little did they
know this would be one of the biggest cases in the annals of paranormal history.
Dr. Barry Taff and his associate Kerry Gaynor were overheard talking about the
paranormal by a woman in a local bookstore. The woman approached the two
men and told them that her house was haunted. She gave Kerry Gaynor some
details of the haunting, in which Gaynor told her that he would discuss this with
his associate.
Dr. Barry Taff and Kerry Gaynor arrived at the 11547 Braddock Dr. Culver City
home on August 22, 1974. Doris Bither, a petite woman, in her 30s greeted them.
Doris Bither lived in the small home with her six year-old daughter and her three
sons. Her daughter was six years old, and her boys were ten, thirteen and
sixteen.
The house at the time was in shambles. Squalid living conditions and a
tumultuous relationship between the mother and male children is what
investigative team observed upon their first visit. The investigators reported a
feeling of overpressure in their ears while being inside the home. According to
Taff, the house was twice condemned by the city.

The infamous Entity house

From what is known, Doris Bither suffered abuse from her parents as well as had
several abusive relationships with men. There was obvious tension between the
three young boys and the mother. The psychodynamics of the home were
extremely negative. It seems that the boys, especially the eldest, would harbor
some dark and resentful feelings towards their mother. The unconscious mind
that is troubled by a physically or verbally abusive environment and negative
upbringing is like a lightning rod to paranormal activities. Either attracting
poltergeist activity or psychosomatically creating it.
Doris Bither claimed that spirits would physically attack her. The reports ranged
from Doris walking around her home and bumping into the ghosts, to actual
spectral rape. Of course, Taff and Gaynor were skeptical of all this. Ghost
apparitions are a hard thing to prove and collect evidence for (from a scientific
perspective). Ghostly rape is even harder to believe. It was not until they saw
the bruises in her inner thighs and all over her body, as well as people outside
the family corroborating by testifying that they had also seen apparitions that
both investigators started to take heed as to what Doris was saying. Doris
claimed that the ghosts were of Asian men. The children, also saw these beings.
The visions were so frequent that they children dubbed one of the more
prominent ghost as Mr. Whose-it.
The claim of rape by these beings is one of the most interesting aspects of the
case. Doris Bither reported that two of the beings were the smallest ones and
would hold her down while the biggest or tallest one of them would rape her.
Doris eldest son would admit to seeing her mother being tossed around the
room. In one instance he tried to intervene and was thrown across the room by
the unseen force.
To both investigators, this must have been the most bizarre claim to date. How
can you prove spectral rape or even claim it? it would seem that a person
would have to be insane to even admit this. The team decided to setup shop and
brought in high-speed cameras and photographers as well as other investigators
to help capture something on tape. In a famous report, all investigators and
equipment, as well as Doris, were in the small bedroom. Cramped and anxious to
see any paranormal activities, they decided to have Doris conjure up the beings
by having her call them. Doris began swearing and yelling at the spirits while 30
or so investigators were crammed in her room.
To much surprise, lights started manifesting around the room. As Doris kept
provoking the beings, a greenish mist started to form in a corner. As if it was
coiling, the green mist started swirling and growing. Within seconds the form of a
mans upper torso started to become visible in the mist. Very large and a lot of
muscles is what they reported seeing. The torso of the being did not show facial
details, but did show the investigators musculature. From what they gathered,
this was a male entity. An investigator soon fainted after seeing this.

No matter how many high-speed cameras were setup to capture this, or that the
team even had professional camera men present; none of this ever came out on
film. The pictures only shows what appears to be a free floating arc light in the
middle of the room as well as some light orbs. The most famous and incredible of
these photographs is the one that shows Doris sitting on a bed, investigators
surrounding her and the free floating arc of light in the middle of the picture.
Whats incredible and equally unbelievable is that the arc of light appears
smooth, even though this is a room with corners and one would expect bends in
the arc as when someone uses a projector to display an image and the image hits
corners in a room. The image will bend. The photographic evidence produce by
the team shows the arc of light floating above Doris Bither with no bends, even
though behind it, we see the rooms corner.

Conjuring up the ghosts, an arc of light is photographed (Doris Bither sitting on

the bed)
Dr. Taff also reported that the eldest son would go on a say that the activities
intensified when ever he played certain music. Black Sabbath & Uriah Heep were
the albums played. The songs that mention or were about devil worshiping is
what seemed to upset the poltergeist. Asking the boy to play the songs in
question, Dr. Taff did observe that the lights and orbs did increase.
The investigative team observed lights and poltergeist activity for about two and
a half months. As time went by, the activities decreased.
It is important to point out a few factors in this case; Doris addiction to alcohol
and her being abusive and belligerent almost on a daily basis, as well her

unwillingness to seek help for her abuse and deal properly with it. Because of her
refusal to properly deal with her own psychotic issues, I believe that her energy
and the energy in her home manifested itself as poltergeist phenomenon.
We have to take into consideration that the paranormal activities were extremely
powerful only when Doris was present in the home. Doris almost always in a
drunken stupor seemed to be the center of it all. While intoxicated, Doris would
attract the phenomenon almost on cue. There were times when she was present
with the team and was not under the influence of alcohol that the poltergeist did
not manifest itself. Which we can only conclude that when Doris mind was
clouded and her inhibitions minimized, her psychokinetic energy took over.
It is not a far stretch of imagination to say that there were some very concerning
underlying themes in this case. Lets take for example how Doris claimed that
there were three entities that attacked her. These entities controlled her life and to
some extent oppressed her. It will not be a stretch, from a psychological stand
point, that these entities could have been a physical manifestation of the
relationship Doris had with her own three sons. From the reports of Dr. Taff, we
know that her relationship with her sons was not a Norman Rockwell painting. As
I discuss this event with my fiancee, she makes a very good and intelligent point:
Doris had suffered abuse almost all her life. The fact that she abused alcohol and
self-medicated to avoid the post-traumatic stress from her abuse could have had
a metaphysical effect in her life.
My fiancee has the following thoughts. One, Doris Bither could have been
extremely psychic or sensitive. Doris could have had a great talent, but her own
refusal to deal with her past abuse and the fact that she self-medicated and kept
her mind clouded did not let her use that talent. Instead, because of her addiction
and self hate, she could have manifested this poltergeist as another way (besides
the alcohol) of attacking herself.
Doris Bither and her sons (especially the eldest) could have been psychic. It is
well known that parents sometimes pass down their psychic abilities to their kids.
In other words, psychic parents produce psychic kids. If the parent was psychic,
and the kids were psychic, the tumultuous relationship in the home could have
produced a staggering amount of psychokinetic energy. Enough energy to
physically manifest poltergeist activity. The feelings that Doris kids could have
had against her and her addiction can be represented by the Hephaestus
Syndrome. Hephaestus being the Greek god of fire and metallurgy, was kicked off
Mount Olympus by his abusive mother. Hephaestus held a very turbulent
relationship with his mother. Chaos and love combined in a love/hate
relationship.
The same way Doris sons could have had a relationship with Doris. A strong
love/hate relationship fueled by past abuse, alcohol and psychic abilities is a
powerful concoction for poltergeist or psychokinetic energy. We can formulate

this manifestation of the spectral rape by Doris description of her attackers:

two of the smaller entities held her down, while the biggest one raped her. We can
speculate that the Bither household was very unstable. Her coming-of-age son
(the biggest one of her three sons) was probably harboring some resentful
feelings towards his mother and her lifestlye. She in turn, saw her son as another
man in her life trying to control her or attack her; therefore in turn
subconsciously materializing the rape or attack on herself and using her current
feelings and occupants in the house as the basis for the rape. This would not
corroborate with her son testifying that he was too attacked and thrown across a
room, but psychokinetic energy can be powerful enough to affect physical
objects from what Ive studied.
Another theory my fiancee mention could be that Doris Bither could have
attracted 3 evil spirits into her life. It could be argued that Doris Bither could have
been abused by three influential men in her life (father, uncle, grandfather or
someone she trusted). The combination of her self-medicating and having
psychic abilities as well as self-loathing could have made her into an attractive
victim to malevolent forces. Her turbulent lifestyle and energy as well as her kids
energy could very well have manifested her feelings into something very evil in a
metaphysical level. Post-traumatic Stress Syndrome and psychic abilities can
have a great effect one a person. A person that does not know about their
abilities and/or is under the influence of a drug can have a great effect on their
surrounding environment. Take into consideration the infamous Bell Witch
haunting.
The Bell Witch Haunting is an old legend. In 1817, John Bell reporting poltergeist
phenomenon. The case was made famous by the reports of then General Andrew
Jackson (who later became president of the U.S). John Bells daughter, Betsy
Bell, was at the center of this haunting. She was physically attacked by the
ghost(s). There is a theory floating out there that the child was extremely psychic
and had suffered from sexual abuse (possibly from her father). Accounts of
levitation, spectral noises and disembodied voices were reported. The theory
states that all this phenomenon could have been produced by Betsy Bell herself.
Living in an unpleasant environment and seeking help, she started to manifest
these attacks.
After Doris Bither left her Culver City home, the phenomenon was ceased to exist
in the house. Future residents of the house have not reported anything out of the
ordinary. The house remains to this day ghost free and is in good conditions.
Dr. Barry Taff reported that Doris Bither moved from Culver City to Carson CA.
From Carson to San Bernadino CA, and from San Bernadino to Texas and finally
back to San Bernardino. While jumping around the two states, Doris reported that
the phenomenon followed her and her family to every place they moved to.
Feeding the notion that the poltergeist phenomenon was a manifestation of her
unstable environment and mind. He also reports that her psychological state is

made apparent when she reported being impregnated by the ghost. Medical test
showed her to not be pregnant but suffering from an ectopic or a hysterical
pregnancy.
No one can say for sure what could have been going on with the family in that
small Culver City house. Since Doris Bither has not been heard of since the late
80s or 90s (depending on some reports) and her kids have not come forward, we
cannot know for certain.

The Entity house as it currently stands

Doris Bithers story is possibly one of the most terrifying and well documented
paranormal accounts. Not only was she repeatedly plagued by three poltergeists,
but these three poltergeists raped her on several occasions, and many of these
events were witnessed by doctoral researchers from the University of California.
In August of 1974 Dr. Barry Taff, a doctor in psychophysiology, a biomedical
engineer, and a world-renowned parapsychologist was discussing issues related
to his latest case with an associate while browsing books at the local bookstore.
Doris Bither overheard the conversation and approached Dr. Taff telling him that
her house was haunted and she needed help. He agreed to investigate and at the
time thought it to be another standard case no different than his hundreds of
other reports.
Arriving at Doris home at 11547 Braddock Drive, Dr. Taff noted that the home
was in a state of squalor Doris was a single mother living with her adolescent
daughter and her three sons. In his initial discussions with Doris, Dr. Taff
reported that she was the victim of an abusive childhood and to that day was
demonstrating symptoms of a deep psychological trauma. Although he didnt
immediately dismiss the case, these discoveries added to his scepticism and
possibly heightened the degree of investigation.
The children first told Dr. Taff about the entity they called Mr. Whose-it, which
all four had claimed to witness on numerous occasions. He noted that their
depictions were remarkably accurate, not just matching each others, but also in
details commonly attributed to entities from his other cases.
In 2009 Ghost Theory conducted an interview with Doris middle son, Brian Harris
who stated; We all experienced some form of attack. There was the pushing,

biting and scratching being done to us. There were about 4 entities in the home,
and they made themselves known by appearing all the time.I think it took a lot
of energy for them to do that. He described the entities as follows: it was
always like a fog. Like a humanbut not quite. During one incident, Brian, who
was in his early teens at the time attempted to intervene in his mothers attack
and was thrown across the room. Reading the full interview is guaranteed to send
some chills down your spine.
Doris described her attacks saying that there were in fact three entities, two
smaller ones that would hold her down while the third larger entity raped her.
These attacks left marks on Doris body indicative of a rape, including bruises on
her inner thighs and throat. The combined testimony of the family convinced Dr.
Taff to establish a base for the monitoring of the paranormal phenomenon in the
house. He brought in specialized lighting, cameras, and audio recording
equipment as well as a team of colleagues from UCLA. On their first formal
investigation of the entity plaguing Doris Bither, Dr. Taff requested that she
attempt an appearance by provoking the beings, which she did. The results were
astounding, lights appeared to shoot through the room arching in mid-air. Many
were caught on film and all of this was witnessed by the twenty something
researchers present. Doris Bither The Entity In 1982 the events that took place at
11547 Braddock Drive were recreated in the movie The Entity. However, many
liberties were taken with regards to the portrayal of Dr. Taffs study of the actual
entity going so far as to depict the team capturing the entity. In reality Dr. Taff and
his team did everything they could for Doris Bither and her family, but in the end
the Bither family moved away, first to San Bernadino California, then Texas, and
finally back to San Bernardino. With each new move the entity followed Doris
Bither and her family. In the late 1980s, her children now grown, Doris
disappeared.
The Entity's real-life victim, Doris Bither, (a.k.a. Doris Donner & Doris McGowan)
passed away at the age of 58 in 1999 of cardiopulmonary failure. While it was
stated that her death was the result of multiple organ failure, the precise cause of
such untimely organ failure was never medically determined.

This was one of my all time favorites. I say this because of the knowledge Ive gained
since first viewing this. I saw the movie when it first came out, and it chilled me to the
bone. Little did I know I would be researching and writing about phenomena such as
this on a regular basis. Now that this is what I do, it concerns me when I ponder how
many are afflicted and abused by demons.
Barbara Hershey plays the main character of this film, and performs a fabulous part.
She is a single mother of 3, an older son and younger daughters.

She was sexually attacked the first time this entity came, which is not unheard of but
definitely rare. The next signs of demonic infestations are at bedtime, then bedside
tables begin shaking which in turn shakes the objects on the top. She smells an odd
odor and then proceeds to shiver, beginning to get chilled.
Next, the dressers and tables shake violently and due to the sudden temperature
change, you start to see her breathe. Curtains fly off the window, bottles begin to
shatter. She becomes so frightened that she runs out of the room.
The younger children are asleep and the older son, Billy begins questioning her
behavior. She opens the door to the girls room and they both carry a child to the car,
meanwhile hes repeatedly asking, whats happening! She just says weve got to get
out, out of the house. They get in the car, only to realize shes forgotten the car keys.
She hesitates going back.
The house is silent. She slowly enters. Its dark. She realizes the keys are not by the
door, so she has to find them. Her purse is on the kitchen table, but no keys. Shes
continues to look, suddenly she sees them and grabs them frantically, then turns to
leave. Just then her bedroom door shakes violently. She turns and runs full speed out

the door and into the car.

She drives while asking Billy;
Did you hear it? DID YOU HEAR IT?
Billy responds with a strange look
Hear what?
She continues to drive, feeling frustrated and doesnt answer.
Its late, close to midnight and she turns to a close friend to stay with for the night. They
make temporary beds and the friend leaves to go to bed.
Mom asks Billy if hes okay?
Billy says, Yeah, if youre alright. But I dont understand whats going on, Mom
She says, I dont either

As the movie carries on, she takes the advice of a friend and visits a mental and
physical health clinic. As usual, the doctor assumes shes delusional. He continues to
feel this way through most of the movie.

This is a common occurrence with people who are experiencing these kinds of horrific
experiences.

Interview with Doris Bithers Son

In what many consider to be one of the most intriguing and paramount cases in the
paranormal, many speculations and theories arose in the paranormal community (and
the outside) about what really happened in that old and small Culver City home in
southern California in the early 1970s.
Doris Bither had 4 children. 3 boys and one girl. Brian Harris is the middle child out of
the three boys. It has been his long-time wish to speak out about the story.
Doris Mcgowan (Mcgowan is her maiden name) came from a upper middle-class family.
As stable as many people might think that sounds, Doris parents ran a turbulent
household. Both were alcoholics and were not suited to provide a well-rounded
upbringing for a child.
At the age of 10, Doris and her family moved to California from the midwest. Details of
Doris childhood are not clearly known by her relatives. In her teenage years, Doris had

a major altercation with her family. Both her parents, an Aunt and Uncle had decided to
disown Doris and was cut off from having contact with any of her family.
As her parents died off, her Aunt and Uncle also, it was apparent that the abhorrent
feeling that they had towards her was so great, when she learned that all of the
inheritance was given to her brother.
With no money and being a single mother, Doris set out to make a life of her own.

Throughout her life, Doris had a number of failed marriages and relationships. She had
given birth to 4 children, all from different fathers. Being a single mother and trying to
support 4 children was something more than what Doris could handle. The Bither family
grew up grew up poor and under stressful environments.
It is important to point out a few factors in this case; Doris addiction to alcohol and her
being abusive and belligerent almost on a daily basis, as well her unwillingness to seek
help for her abuse and deal properly with it.

Because of her refusal to properly deal with her own psychotic issues, I believe that the
pain and suffering in this home attracted paranormal phenomena. Demons are attracted
to these kinds of families, and homes.
Brian Harris recalls the overall feelings of growing up in the Bither home:

Brian Harris: The overall feeling of everyday life was that of being isolated most of the
time. ..yea the house was small, but since we were so separated [physically], you felt
alone and isolated.
The small Culver City home had the living room and kitchen in the front part of the
property, while the bedrooms were in a different section, in the back of the house. Mr.
Harris best describes the layout as an L-shaped property.
What is not known is that as small as the house was a hundred year old home with a 2level cellar. The bedrooms were an addition to the original house.

Life for the children was far from normal.

Dr. Barry taff wrote about how the Bither home was twice condemned by the city,
squalid conditions and always dark and closed-off to the outside world.
According to Mr. Harris, this was not the case.
Brian Harris: as far as the home being twice condemned by the city, thats all bull****.
The home was never condemned. It felt isolated being there, but that was because the
house had built a large reputation for being haunted, that the whole neighborhood was
coming by. Prowlers, curious people. Neighborhood kids would always come by, trying
to see inside the haunted house. at school I used to get teased a lot for living in the
house
The home was never condemned by the city according to Mr. Harris. It makes sense
that it would be closed off to the outside world, if everyone was invading their privacy.
The home was repossessed by the city and then sold. Doris was renting it at the time. It
was then bought by the next door neighbor, Mr. Bob Salcedo, and then sold it when he
had heard of what was going on and was frightened.
I then wanted to hear from Mr. Harris own mouth about the haunting. If all of it was true.
Did the rape happen? were they really attacked by spirits?
I asked Mr. Harris about the claims and reports. There was a long sigh. I felt as if he
was bothered by the question. Like if he had been asked to recount the events every
time he mentioned his mothers name. The phone went silent for an awkward 6 seconds
or so after the sigh.

Brian Harris: *sighs*..What do you want to know? It was all true

WOW! I thought. This is it! this is the confirmation Ive been waiting for. I nod my head,
as if I knew it all along. A sort of Hell yea! motion.
Brian Harris: Well, it was all mostly true. Have you seen the movie?
I confessed that I did not watch the 1981 film, which stars Barbara Hershey, titled The
Entity. I told Mr. Harris that I did read and re-read Dr. Barry Taffs report on the case.
Brian Harris: yea, the movie did add a lot of things [A lot of the events in the film were
fictionalized, in spite of Taffs and Gaynors request]. Barbara Hershey did do a
good job. It was exactly as I remember my mother going through. The bruises in her
legs and inner thighs. The attacks.
I then started to prod Mr. Harris about the whole haunting and the attacks that seemed
to be focused on Doris and his eldest brother.

Brian Harris: Well everything about what was reported was true. It did happen. Living
in that home was hell.
We all experienced some form of attack. There was the pushing, biting and
scratching being done to us. there were about 4 entities in the home, and they made
themselves known by appearing all the time.I think it took a lot of energy for them to
do that.
According to Mr. Harris, they all suffered the attacks. Himself receiving less abuse. He
believes that the entities were drawn to the negative and frightened attitude the rest of
the family members had. Especially Doris.
I proceeded to ask him about the physical attack brought upon the entities. I was
especially interested in the rape claim of Doris Bither.

Brian Harris: ..It was as if they [the four entities] showed themselves whenever they felt
like.
I asked Mr. Harris to describe what they looked like.

Brian Harris: It was never clear. Like I would see you Javier. When they would make
themselves known, it was always like a fog. Like a humanbut not quite.
like a silhouette of a human? I asked.
Brian Harris: Yes, like a silhouette. Just not clear. Translucent and foggy.
I asked Brian about the features of the apparitions.
Brian Harris: It was like a sculpture. Like a chiseled body. Not a full figure, but at times
we could see some of it [the musculature]
Its funny, the whole incident about them being Asian; thats not true. I dont know
where they [Taff & Gaynor] got that idea from. They did not have Asian features. They
did not look Asian.
Mr. Harris was referring to the initial description that Dr. Barry Taff had made about the
spirits looking Asian. According to Mr. Harris, they did not look Asian.

Brian Harris: At times, it would be annoying. We would be watching television and

these things would walk by. Like nothing. We were so used to the poltergeist, that
we just got to a point were we wouldnt even care.
Brian Harris: The whole rape thing was real. My room was right next door to my
mothers. I would hear the attacks happening. Things being thrown, her screaming.
Then she would come out of the bedroom and have all these bruises. On her legs, her
inner thighs. Just like in the movie.
there were times were we would see it happen in front of us. It was like if a man was
standing in front of my mother and would start to beat her. Imagine a woman being
beaten. You could see her being picked up and thrown around. Sounds, slapsbut
there was no one there to actually do it. we all felt it too. pulling, biting and
scratchingwe were all attacked.
What Mr. Harris had told me was that at times, these foggy apparitions became clear
and detailed. He would see musculature and facial features at times. Curious to know
how he, as a child, dealt with these visions, I asked him to describe his childhood
around this.
Brian Harris: Well it was hell. There I was, barely out of elementary school, trying to
carry on and ignore it all and there was so much commotion going on. Between Barrys
team of 30 or so people crammed in a small, and I mean, small room. Cheering and
yelling at this thing. I was in the next room trying to watch television. Trying to mind my
own business.
The investigations that Taff and Gaynor did lasted around two and three months. I
started to sense that Mr. Harris was a bit bothered when we talked about the team of
researchers that invaded his home. I wanted to know the real feelings he had about the
whole ordeal. I wanted to get a perspective of a bystander, to see what it was like
behind the scenes of an investigation. It was anything but helpful in this case. The
feeling I had after talking to Mr. Harris, was that of a person who resented the
investigative team that was supposed to be there to help them live a normal life. A sort
of we got what we wanted, good luck with the haunting feeling.
Brian Harris: The whole investigation lasted about 2 or 3 months. But it wasnt like
Barry was there every single day. So for him to say that this could have been some sort
of telekinetic thing that my mother was creating is all bull****. She didnt want to have
this happen.its a possibility, but its not like he knew what we were really going
through. He was not an Uncle Bob that knew the family. He was only there for three
months. And from that, he would show up every thursday or so.
When the team would show up, I hated it; because I knew as soon as they left, they
would become so angry that the house would come alive!
I asked him to elaborate on that last statement.

Brian Harris: it was as if the ghosts were upset that we went and told. Like they were
throwing a temper tantrum, a hissy fit. So things would start flying, we would get
attacked.
Can you describe the events? I asked.
Brian Harris: what? I already told you Javier! it was as if the house became alive!
Things flying, pots and pans. It just became alive. They were angry at us for telling.
I proceeded to ask him about the theory that his mother could have created the
poltergeist herself. I asked Mr. Harris if they did have a love/hate relationship with their
mother, could that have caused it. The fact that she was drinking heavily, that could
have contributed.
Brian Harris: yeaI wouldnt be surprised if that was the reason. You have to
understand, my mother was drinking heavily because of what was going on. She
wanted to escape. So she drank. Barry reported that she was always drunk. thats not

true. In fact, I wish I could talk to him in person. I have a few things I want to clear out.
As far as the telekinetic/psychokinetic theory:
Brian Harris: The home was unstable. We did fight a lot. My older brother was mean to
us. So there was a lot of tension. My mothers boyfriend at the time left because he
could not handle it [the poltergeist and tension]. Which was a good thing. He was a
bastard.
The telekinesis theory is possible. There was so much tension and negative energy.
You have to remember that it could have been also [amplified] done by Barrys team.
There was at times, 20 or 30 people in a room. Yelling at this thing. Trying to make it
come out. Camera equipment, lights. The collective energy could have made it worse.
That was an excellent point Mr. Harris had touched upon.
I know scientific research is needed, and what in the end of an investigation all that
matters is the hard data facts. But we must not overlook what we ourselves indirectly
cause. A haunting or poltergeist is usually a very personal and intimate thing. From my
readings over the years, it seems like it is usually targeted toward a single person. If a
family is involved, then it stays in the home, almost never manifesting itself to outsiders.
Having a team of scientists and students provoke evil forces in order to capture
evidence is dangerous. Once the scientists realize that no data was collected. No
apparitions made, then they will soon start to doubt the claim and ultimately abandon
the research. The poltergeist can wait. It can then come out once everyone has left and
take its rage out on the residents.
Sounds like a horror novel, right?
This is what this case was. No useful evidence was ever captured. Except a few
photographs that show orbs. Real orbs, not these ones that we see all over the web that
are clearly dust or bugs reflecting the cameras flash.

Doris Bither in mid paranormal activity. Notice how the orb free floating. Its arc never
bends with the back walls corner as would be expected if it was projected onto the wall.
Mr. Harris told me that there were 4 entities in the beginning of the interview. Dr. Barry
Taff reported only three spirits in the home. So I asked Mr. Harris to talk about the fourth
spirit.
Brian Harris: That was the one we called Mr. Whose-it. He was always walking
around the house. He was thr one who I believed to be my grandfather.
How did you come to that conclusion? I asked.
asked Mr. Harris to explain about the claims of his older brother listening to satanic
music as Dr. Barry Taff reported.
Brian Harris: Thats all bull****. We never listened to Satanic Music. It was Black
Sabbath and Uriah Heep. Any kid that grew up in the 70s and listened to Rock, that is
what they listened to. It was the cool thing to do. Although, we did notice that when we
would play certain songs, the spirits would become agitated. There is this song in the
Uriah Heep album Demons and Wizards that talks about good versus evil. Its

basically about the devil getting his ass kicked. Every time we would play that, they
[spirits] would become agitated.
I mentioned that Doris was renting the house in Culver City. The owner, hearing about
all the supernatural things going on, decided to sell that home. Doris and her kids were
forced to move.
Brian Harris: The new place we moved to was hell. It was in the bad part of Carson,
CA. There was very little paranormal activity happening. It was hell because of the
neighborhood. It was a bad neighborhood and school. The paranormal stuff was very
rare at that point.
Brian Harris and his siblings all posses some form of psychic power according to him.
Although throughout the years it has become more and more faint, he still sees
shadows and spirits every now and then. Throughout his life, hes seen them. So have
his siblings. It was only in the Culver City home that it became negative and physical.
The intensive psycho-kinetic energy in the Culver City home could have been extremely
overwhelming. Combined with the negative attention it brought (unwanted intrusion of
the research team and family tension) it could have easily been a beacon for all these
evil spirits.
Dr. Barry Taff reported that eventually Doris had moved to Texas and then back to San
Bernardino, CA. She had reported to him that by that time, she had gotten impregnated
by one of the spirits.
I asked Brian harris about the ectopic or hysterical pregnancy claims.
Brian Harris: Its possible. I mean, my mother moved around a lot. She was so
unstable, we would lose contact with her. She had so many boyfriends and husbands,
that I lost count. So its a possibility that one of her boyfriends got her pregnant.
Contrary to what may reports state, Carla Moran is not Doris real name. That was the
fictional character from the movie The Entity that was based on the Doris Bither story.
Doris never lived in San Bernardino, CA.
After leaving Carson, CA, she left for Texas and then came back to the Lawndale and
Torrance, CA cities. a few miles south of Culver City.
Doris Bither passed away in 1995, from Pulmonary Arrest.
