MITOSIS VOCABULARY
Reihan Ahmad Millaudy
Adv. G (10)
Interphase : The period of the cell cycle during which the nucleus
is not undergoing division, typically occurring between mitotic or
meiotic divisions.
Also called interkinesis.
My own words : The cycle of cell when in the nucleus occur in
mitotic or meiotic division.
Sentence : Interphase is the cell cycle occur between the mitotic.
G1 phase : The first growth period of the cell cycle, during
interphase, in which the cell grows and cytoplasmic organelles are
replicated.
My own words : The first period of cycle of the cell, in the that
period cell are grows also cytoplasmic organelles replicated.
Sentence : G1 is the first period of cycle during the interphase.
S Phase : The period of the cell cycle prior to mitosis, during which
the chromosomes are replicated.
My own words : Period of cycle prior to mitosis, and the
chromosome is replicated.
Sentence : S Phase is the chromosome replicated and cell cycle to
mitosis.
Prophase : The first stage of mitosis or meiosis in eukaryotic cell
division, during which the nuclear envelope breaks down and
strands of chromatin form into chromosomes.
My own words : First stage mitosis or meiosis in eukaryotic cell
division, and nuclear envelope is break down the chromatin change
or form chromosomes.

Sentence : Prophase is first stage of mitosis and can form into a

chromosomes
Metaphase: The stage in mitosis or meiosis in which the duplicated
chromosomes line up along the equatorial plate of the spindle.
My own words : The mitosis are duplicated chromosomes line up
along the equatorial of spindle.
Sentence : a metaphase is duplicated a chromosomes.
Anaphase : the stage in mitosis or meiosis following metaphase in
which the daughter chromosomes move away from each other to
opposite ends of the cell.
My own words : Mitosis following metaphase, and the daughter
chromosomes move to each opposite end off cells.
Sentence : Anaphase make daughter chromosomes move to each
other.
Telophase : The final stage of meiosis or mitosis, in which the
separated chromosomes reach the opposite poles of the dividing
cell and the nuclei of the daughter cells form around the two sets of
chromosomes.
My own words : Final stage of meiosis which separated the
chromosomes reach opposite of the poles and divide cell also the
daughter cells form 2 sets chromosomes
Sentence : Telophase is separated chromosomes reach the
opposite poles of the dividing a cell.
Cytokinesis : The division of the cell cytoplasm that usually follows
mitotic or meiotic division of the nucleus.
My own words : a cell division of cytoplasm follows the nucleus in
mitotic division.
Sentence : Cytokinesis is usually follows the mitotic of the nucleus
division.

Chromosome : Any of several threadlike bodies, consisting of

chromatin, that carry the genes in a linear order: the human species
has 23 pairs, designated 1 to 22 in order of decreasing size and X
and Y for the female and male sex chromosomes respectively.
My own words : a several threadlike bodies that are consist of
chromatin, and carry a genes.
Sentence : Chromosome is consist chromatin and genes.
Chromatid : One of two identical chromosomal strands into which a
chromosome splits longitudinally preparatory to cell division.
My own words : There one of the two identical chromosomal which
strands into a chromosome, and also splits to longitudinally
preparatory to the cell division.
Sentence : Chromatid is chromosomal of two identical.
Centriole : a small, cylindrical cell organelle, seen near the nucleus
in

the

cytoplasm

of

most

eukaryotic

cells,

that

divides

in

perpendicular fashion during mitosis, the new pair of centrioles

moving ahead of the spindle to opposite poles of the cell as the cell
divides: identical in internal structure to a basal body.
My own words : Small cell organelle, near the nucleus in
cytoplasm of eukaryotic cells, and new pair of centrioles moving
ahead of spindle to another poles of cell and divides in internal of a
basal body.
Sentence : Centriole is small cell organelle in nucleus in cytoplasm.
