Evacuation Shelter

Evacuation shelter is important for mitigation. If evacuation shelter is good then the
mitigation from disaster will be good to. With good evacuation shelters mitigation planning
for avoid the disaster is impact. Good evacuation shelters will impact mitigation before
disasters, during disaster, and after disaster. The impact for before disaster mitigation or predisaster mitigation is good evacuation shelter will gift interaction to the people to go there for
saving their live with fast response, it can make time more effficient because the people
believe that if they go to there they will save and will have more comfort place to evacuate
because its designed for evacuation. Evacuation shelters can save more people because it
designed for evacuation that has to be enough for saving people around there. With good
preparadness of the evacuation shelters, post-disaster mitigation will run well because all of
equipment tha needed to survive after disaster is already prepared before, for example the
tent, water tank, and another emergency equipment.

After looking at Syekh Bela-Belu evacuation shelter, actualy there ar not a place that
not designed for evacuation shelter but there are a holy graveyard for local people. Syekh
Bela-Belu jus have a small capacity to save all people around there but for evacuation
shelter, Syekh Bela-Belu shelter not sufficient to accomodate all the people around that.
Beside that, the way to get there is just stairways that not suitable for evacuating. The widht
of stairway is variant but the avarage is aproximately just 2 meters, in the short time of
evacuating there difficult and very inefficient for evacuating. To survive for a long time, if the
rescue team did not come quickly because of the accesses to go there are difficult due to the
mud or sediment, there are very not proper for that situation, to be a good evacuation shelters
there are have to ready for any situation that can happen in tsunami disaster. In Syekh BelaBelu shelter there are enough place to build a tent for evacuation post that can be a place for
people that injuried because of tsunami disaster but the tent is not ready in there. Syekh BelaBelu shelter has a water tank but for 700 people that is not enough. Finally, Syekh Bela-Belu
is ok for evacuation place that just little number of people that can save in tere but, for
evacuation shelter from tsunami disaster, there are not proper place.

Same with Syekh Bela-Belu shelter, Syekh Maulana Maghribi shelter is not designed
for evacuation shelter actualy. There are holy graveyard to for local people. Syekh Maulana
Maghribi shelter is not sufficient for being evacuation shelter. There are just a small place
that enough just for maybe 500 people. The way to go to the shelter is mix between
stairways and just sleepy footstep. It is dangerious if tsunami comes and just have a short
time to evacuate but the way is bad, not width enough,steep, and sleepy, the people can
injuried because of that. The banister in the middle of the stairway togo there is make the way
more not comfortable for emergency condition like in evacuation because of ysunami. Syekh
Maulana Maghribi shelter not proper for survive in long time because of difficulties of access
and the rescue did not come quickly. There are no water tank to give water to the people and
no equipment to survive like tent or first medical equipment. There are no place to build a
tent for the injuried people. Since it in steep hill and just ground and grass that can sleepy if
raining, there are no barrier to make the people not falling down the hill.

Syekh Maulana Maghribi is not proper evacuation shelter not just because of badness
of the way but also the place that available for survive is not comfort and not sufficient for all
the people around there. Not comfort becuse there are no plain place to build tent and no
enough water for all the evacuated people. Not sufficient because the are just a small place
tha have limitation of people.

Different with Syekh Bela-Belu and Syekh Maulana Maghribi evacuation shelter,
Bulak Mabul evacuation shelter is more proper than two shelter before. Bulak Mabul shelter
has large plain area that enough to bulit an emergency tent and have water tank that maybe
enough for injuried people in emergency tent but not for all the people. The water for the
people can get from the houses around the shlter. The way to get there is good to, there are a
pavement road that may vehicle to go there. But if camparing with the people that may go to
ther to evacuate is not sufficiet. According to the interview with SAR Officer, the local people
just know that there ara just one place for evacuation and that place is Bulak Mabul shelter
because the simulation just using one shelter, the tourist that did not know about evacuation
in Parangtritis Beach will follow the local people toget there iy will make Bulak Mabul is
very crowded and not proper again to be evacuation shelter. The preparadeness for
emergency condition on Bulak Mabul shelter is not good enough to take car e all the people
and tourist around there. there are no equipment that ready for use like tent or medical
equipment if tsunami come suddenly.

Bulak Mabul is good for evacuation but not enough for accomodating all the tourist
and local people at Parangtritis Beach. The simulation foe evacuating must including other
shelter and for the tourist must get enough knowlwdge about emergency condition end how
to survive from that emergency condition.

Conclusion of three evacuation shelters is not proper to be evacuation shelter.

Evacuation shelter must can save people well in any condition. From three shelter around
Parangtriris Beach, Syekh Bela-Belu shelter, Syekh Maulana Maghribi, and Bulak Mabul
Shelter, the most proper from three shelter is Bulak Mabul shelter, because the access to get
there is good enough for evacuating and rescueing the people. Beside that, Bulak Mabul
shelter have largest plain area that its suitable for tent to do emergency thing there are near
houshing that can help another people. The most not proper shelter is Syekh Maulana
Maghribi shelter that have sleepy and bad way to get there. Beside that, the shelter did not
have enough place to built a tent and not enough water supply.

Shelters Effectiveness And Efficientness
The solusion to upgrade three shelter above to be good evacuation shelter is by using
that place not only evacuation place but also tourism place. With multi purpose place, the
facillity can be improved, the way to get there will be easier, and the capacity can be
increased. Beside that, the comfortability of the place will be improved too the parking lot
can be moved to the hill that can make evacuation easier. But there are will need many
investment to build multi purposed place and will change the system of tourism in there like
shelter bus for tourism tranportation. Its also must suported by any element like evacution
road, system of evacuation, knowledge of people and tourist about evacuate from tsunami.
