Course
Descriptio
n

The course gives a deep insight and working knowledge of Next

Generation Networks. Starting from basic telephony and narrowband
internet technologies, it travels through 2G, 3G, 4G networks (3GPP,
LTE, EPC), VoIP Networks and Protocols, MPLS, G-MPLS, SDH, NG-SDH,
NGN for fixed line telephony, Mobile IP, OBS, OPS and IMS; thus
covering all aspects of NGN i.e. Fixed Line NGN, Mobile NGN and
Optical NGN.
The course will be focused towards practical implementation on the
technologies and their underlying theoretical concepts. NGN
standardizing agencies will also be discussed.

Expected
Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, students will:

Have good understanding of telecom and computer networks in
vogue.
Have deep insight and knowledge of 2G, 3G and 4G networks and
evolution.
Good knowledge of underlying protocols used for NGN.
Good knowledge of physical and data link layer techniques like NGSDH and DWDM.
Thorough understanding of Fixed Line, Mobile and Optical NGNs.
