CLASS EXPECTATIONS:

Attendance is mandatory. Being that this is a quartered class there is a

lot of material covered in a short period of time. If you miss a class YOU
are responsible for determining what you have missed and getting any
handouts, notes, assignments, etc.
Be on time. It is important that class starts on time and it is disruptive
to show up late. Please do your best to show up on time. If you are
going to be late, be as quiet as possible when entering the classroom
so that you do not disturb the learning of others.
Come to class prepared. Bring your binder and something to write with.
You waste valuable learning time when you have to go to your locker. I
will notify you ahead of time if you require anything more than a binder
and writing utensils.
Copying, borrowing, or downloading someone elses work and
presenting it as your own (plagiarism) is a SERIOUS ACADEMIC
OFFENSE. This includes resubmitting work YOU have done for previous
classes. Plagiarized assignments will be redone over several lunch
hours until completed to my satisfaction.

Respect. Respect me as your teacher and I will in turn respect you.

Respect your fellow classmates CALM topics can warrant some pretty
heated debates and everyone is entitled to their opinion. Respect the
classroom yes, you may eat and drink in class, however this is a
privilege, not a right. If you repeatedly leave a mess behind NO ONE in
class will enjoy this privilege.
Leaving the classroom for use of Washroom/ Drinks/ Materials Please
ask before you leave the classroom. Use this privilege wisely; abuse of
this privilege will result in its termination. Excessive time spent out of
the classroom/ abuse of these privileges will result in you repaying me
this time on your lunch hour. Only ONE person at a time may be absent
from the room. PLEASE wait for an appropriate time to leave. (It is not
appropriate to leave in the middle of a presentation, lecture or other
instruction.) You are expected to get caught up on any material missed
in an appropriate way.
Cell phones. You can survive 80 minutes without checking your texts or
Facebook so put it on vibrate and keep it in your
backpack/purse/pocket etc. If having a cell phone becomes an issue for
you in class you will need to talk to administration about other
solutions.
Be engaged! CALM is interesting and we can have a lot of fun
discussing some of these topics. So ask questions, listen to your
classmates, do your reading and get involved. You will only get out of
this class what you put into it.
