AKO Bicol Representative Rodel M. Batocabe filed a house resolution condemning
the terror attack on Nice, France last July 14, 2016, which caused the death of 84 people and injured hundreds during the celebration of the Bastille Day. There is never a good reason to take away the lives of others, more so with hate in mind, said AKO Bicol Representative Rodel M. Batocabe, such bestial act of haplessly taking the lives of innocents has no place everywhere, whether in France or in the Philippines. In the resolution, Batocabe wrote that the members of the House of Representatives condemn the terror attack in Nice, France, joining the French people in the clarion call for peace, sobriety, and understanding, amidst these continuing attacks on civilians. Senseless, atrocious, and indefensible attacks such as these sow nothing but fear in peoples hearts, in a world so lacking in faith, hope, and love, said Batocabe, the 250-strong members of the House of Representatives are one in condoling with the French as they go through another period of grief and recovery. Batocabe noted the previous attacks on the French, namely the shooting in the office of the Parisian satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo and the synchronized terror attack in Bataclan, all within the span of two years from the Bastille Day incident. On July 14, 2016, a purportedly soldier of Islam plowed through a crowd of various people celebrating Bastille Day. Police stopped and shot the perpetrator shortly after.
