1- Find the Fourier coefficients for the signal:

x(t) = 1/2 - (1/2) cos 40t + 2 cos 0t
Solution:
According to synthesis eq.:
Again write this eq. (as above).
Now, let us rewrite the signal in this form; i.e:
x(t) = 1/2 - (1/2)[(1/2)ej4 0t + (1/2)e-j40 t] + 2[(1/2)ej0 t + (1/2)e-j 0t]
Comparing this with the synthesis eq., we find:

a0=1/2

a1=1

a-1=1

a4=1/4

a-2= 1/4

ak= 0, all other k.

2- The following Fourier coefficients are given:

a0=2

a1=1

a-1=1

a3= (1/2)ej /4

a-3= (1/2)e-j /4

Find the signal x(t).

Solution:
According to synthesis eq.:

3- Find and Plot the magnitude and phase of the Fourier coefficients of the
signal:
x(t) = 1 + sin 0t + 2cos 0t + cos (20t + /4)

Again write this eq. (as above).

Now, based on the given Fourier coefficients, we can write:
j

-j /4 -j3 t
0

x(t) = 2 + 1ej0 t + 1e-j 0t + (1/2) e /4 ej30 t + (1/2) e

Consequently:
x(t) = 2 + 2 cos 0t + cos(30t + /4)
