Removing and installing

Removing inner engine bonnet.

For vehicles with manual fuel pump and AR88.40-B-1100B


fuel filter attached to engine block .

Opening of cabin front flap.

For vehicles with manual fuel pump and AR88.60-B-1000A


fuel filter attached to chassis .

Clean the outside of the fuel prefilter.

Loosen the knurled nut, move the fastening


clamp sideways and disassemble the
inspection bowl (7) with filter element (5),
spring (6) and the sealing ring (4).

i Replace sealing ring (4).

Wash the inspection bowl (7) and the filter


element (5) with clean Diesel oil.

i Replace the filter element (5) if it is


clogged or damaged.
The prefilter inspection bowl (7) must be
replaced if its sealing surface is chipped
or otherwise damaged.

Install the filter element (5) with spring (6) in


prefilter inspection bowl (7), position the new
sealing ring (4) on inspection bowl rim (7).
Instalal the inspection bowl (7), positioning
the fastening clamp and manually tighten the
knurled nut.

i Moisten the new sealing ring (4) with


engine oil. Do not use any tool to tighten
the knurled nut. Before tightening the
nut, watch the correct seating of
inspection bowl (7) and sealing ring (4).

Bleed air from fuel system.

i On engines with filter without vent,


loosen the pump galerys outlet plug
approximately 1/2 turn.
