Course Description: This is the second course in a sequence of three required high school courses designed to
ensure career and college readiness. The course represents a discrete study of geometry with correlated
statistics applications. This course requires students to: use numerical, graphical, and algebraic techniques to
explore exponential, and quadratic functions and use right triangle trigonometry to formulate and solve problems;
discover, justify and apply properties of circles and spheres; use sample data to make informal inferences about
population means and standard deviations; and fit curves to data and examine the issues related to curve fitting.
Standards Based Instruction: This course will include information in compliance with the Georgia Performance
Standards (GPS)/ Common Core Georgia Performance Standards. For complete coverage of this courses
standards please see https://www.georgiastandards.org/
WIDA Standards: Students who are determined to require English language assistance will receive
accommodations from the classroom and ESOL teachers according to the WIDA performance standards in
compliance with the World-Class Instructional Design and Assessment (WIDA) Consortium. See

Infinite Campus: The fastest and most up-to-date way for parents to track a students progress is to utilize the
Parent Portal piece of the Infinite Campus student information system. To obtain access to Parent Portal parents
may pick up a Parent Portal Registration Form from the CCHS Guidance department or from the school of the
youngest child registered in Colquitt County. Parents who utilized Parent Portal during the 2016-2017 school year
do not need to register again.
Important Resources for Parents: Colquitt County High School depends upon parent participation to fuel our School
Improvement Plan. Please utilize the links at http://colquitt.high.schooldesk.net/ to learn about the school improvement
process and parent involvement. Please contact Mrs. Stephanie Terrell, Principal Colquitt County High School with any
comments, questions or suggestions. Also, please refer to the CCHS 2016-2017 student handbook for important rules and
procedures at CCHS.

Students with Disabilities are entitled to appropriate and reasonable auxiliary aids and accommodations
through The Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. Colquitt County

Supplies:
The following supplies are recommended for this class:
1) pencils and eraser
2) highlighter
3) notebook paper
4) 1 subject notebook (Used for weekly journal)
5) 3-ring notebook with dividers
6) Calculator for homework (A TI-84 will be provided for in class use.)
Important Issues:
Homework will be given and students are expected to complete all homework assignments. Homework is an
essential step in the learning process. Practicing the skills taught in class will promote a better understanding of
mathematical concepts thus aiding in success on assessments and in the course.
Writing is very important in all subject areas and we will be doing different writing assignments in our class.
Students are responsible for getting class notes from another student when they are absent. It is the students
responsibility to complete and turn in make-up work. Students are allowed to make up work for excused absences.
Students are encouraged to come in for extra help. Often, a few minutes of individual help can result in a student
understanding material that he or she had found difficult. Students may come in after school for help, but please
check with me first so I can avoid for conflicts. My availability is listed on the front page. In the case of school
meetings or personal appointments and emergencies, I will notify students that I will be unavailable. It is helpful for
students to inform me at least a day in advance if they plan to stay after school for help or to make up work.
Late work is penalized 5 points per day with a maximum of 25 pts. The teacher may choose to provide an alternate
assignment if the answers are discussed in class or the papers are checked and returned to the students.
Any referral may disqualify a student from final exemptions. Tardies and absences may disqualify a student from final
exemptions.
Students will receive a Restroom Pass for emergencies with a limited number of opportunities to leave class to use
the restroom. A student must produce his/her personal restroom pass to get signed in order to go. If you have used
all of your passes or you cannot produce your pass, you may take a 10 min after school detention as your RR pass.
Expectations and Classroom Rules:
Students should behave in an appropriate manner for all students to achieve maximum learning.
Be kind and respectful of others.
Students should bring appropriate materials to class each day and be prepared to work when the tardy bell rings.
Students should keep their work organized in a 3-ring notebook. Successful organization leads to better preparation
for frequent quizzes and major tests which are used to determine a students mastery of concepts.
Students should follow ALL school rules.
Food is not to be consumed in the classroom. Only sealed drink containers are permitted in the classroom.
Electronic devices, including cell phones, should only be taken out and accessed on BYOT days. This will be
announced by the teacher in advance. Otherwise, visible devices will be confiscated and turned in to the office.
Consequences include a warning or conference with student, detention of 15-30 minutes, parent contact, and/or
referral to an administrator.
