equipment are available in your school and classroom? Including,

smart phones, computer labs (stationary and/or mobile),
videoconferencing, streaming

Tools, Software, Operating Systems, resources and Equipment:

All teachers are 1-to-1 and have an iPad or an iPad mini

The entire school is Wi-Fi compatible and recently we won runner up in
the State Farm school competition and were awarded $25,000 which
was spent on putting more seating in our commons areas along with
charging stations for student electronics.
All classrooms have a smartboard and desktop computer for teacher
use.
All students enrolled in an AP course have an iPad mini
All math classrooms have 30 iPad minis; equipped with
o Graphing Calculator
o Desmos Graphing App
o QR Code readers
o YouTube

o Rover
o iMovie
All science classrooms have a set of laptops
Our media center has approximately 300 laptops and iPads that can be
checked out by students or teachers for a class set at any time with
teacher permission.
Our school has about 64 computers available to students during class
or AUT (Alternating Unassigned Time) free period from 30 minutes
before first block to 30 minutes after school.
We have 4 computer labs remaining in the school building available for
use by classes. (1 general computer lab, business lab, FACS class lab,

Select 10-15 global e-learning sites and Web 2.0 tools listed in
this week's materials that you are interested in using. Which are
available and which are blocked by your firewall. How does your
school make use of school and/or teacher websites, gradebook
technology, Google Apps for Education, one-to-one education
technology, flipped classrooms, etc.?

Google is something I use extensively, recently it is blocked on and off

by our firewalls. Kids cannot google things wirelessly, BING however
does work
o Google forms
o Google Drive
o Google Sites
3. How are you currently utilizing technology for student learning,
classroom management, communication, professional
development, professional networking?
Google is something I use extensively, recently it is blocked on and off
by our firewalls. Kids cannot google things wirelessly, BING however
does work
a. Google forms
b. Google Drive
c. Google Sites

4.

My classroom has QR codes set up everywhere that link students

directly to my class page.
Remind101 app
Senteo clickers on a regular basis for instant feedback on work
Desmos for virtual investigation using graphs
YouTube to watch videos or make connections to things learned in class

How would you like to further evolve your use of technology in

the classroom?

Right now I use tons of technology but do not connect my classroom globally.
This is where I would like to see improvements in myself.
5.

What sites and Web 2.0 tools are colleagues in your building
using?

The list is unimaginable. I have no idea sometimes what is going on in the

studies classrooms or sometimes even the science classrooms. Wordle, and
Voicethread are some of the few that are being used because I trained
teachers years ago on the use of them. Prezi is one for sure.
6. Is there a system for evaluating student technology literacy in
your school? If so, how effective or helpful have you found the
assessment?
During freshman year students are to take a series of training through their
advisory classes. Surveys and lectures are attended by all freshman but are
not for a grade nor are they very in depth. So there really isnt that much in
place for students.
7.

Is there a system for evaluating educators technology literacy to

identify areas of need and match those needs to professional
development programs?

We have a teacher technology committee that meets frequently to learn and

train teachers on new technology available. Often however teachers who do
not think they are good at something does not actually use it.
8.

Describe the professional development opportunities available to

properly introduce you to and train you in the use of various
technologies.

9.

What technology tools, professional development, funding, etc.

not presently available would help to achieve your districts
technology objectives and your professional technology
objectives?

Currently if we see a need for something professional development wise we

can submit a request for paid training or even request in service credit. Until
the end of the school year when our PD fund runs low I have never heard of
someone being told no before.
10.

How does technology help you to globalize your classroom?

I think technology makes connecting with other countries and communities

much easier. It also allows for research and accessing information quicker.
Without technology it would be possible but a slower process also less
engaging for students then being able to skype, email, talk on phones, or
even research videos and visuals.
