Find SPSS software on the PC (START
MENU) and double click on the SPSS icon.
SPSS can be found in some Academic
Computing Center computers and through
MAVAPPS on a computer while on campus.

How to enter data from the keyboard?


Click on Variable View
Type name of the variable in the first row under Name
Click on Type
A row of information about the default format of the variable
will show
One can change the format by clicking on the Grey spot beside
the word Numeric
Click on Data View and Enter data in columns
One can save data temporarily on the desktop
One can save data permanently by sending e-mail the file
one-self as attachment
One can save data permanently on a disk

How to use existing data?


Use file manager and double click on
the file
Example:
Comparing Ages of Oscar Winners In Ages of
Oscar-winning Best Actors and Actresses
(Mathematics Teacher magazine) by Richard
Brown and Gretchen Davis, are used to compare
the ages of actors and actresses at the time they
won Oscars. Here are the results for recent
winners from each category.
