JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: Repair Workshop Craftperson Mechanical


DEPARTMENT/FUNCTION: Technical Services.
BASE/AREA: Tolgus Workshop Redruth.
RESPONSIBLE TO: Repair Workshop Supervisor
BAND/LEVEL: Craftsman Band A Progressing to Technician Grade

1. JOB PURPOSE:
Based at our Redruth workshop this role involves supporting the Technical Services field
team by carrying out repairs on larger items that cannot be repaired in the field. Carrying
out inspection and repairs on items such as sewage and water pumps, compressors,
blowers, gearboxes, motors and possibly undertake some fabrication and machine shop
work and attending site to provide support will also form part of this role.

CORE DUTIES & KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


Strip and inspect faulty plant and provide report in relation to failure reason and spares
requirements.
Deliver quality repairs to operational plant in a timely manner.
Competent in the use of workshop machines -lathe, milling machine, pillar drill etc.
Mechanical workshop skills i.e. Fabrication, welding.
Monitor and ensure continual conformance with ISO 9001 procedures.
Work planning in conjunction with Supervisor.
Effective use of personal PDA to follow work plan, feedback plant data and work
information.
Ensure Health & Safety policies and standards are adhered to at all times.
Ensure that all client contact enhances and promotes the reputation of Operation
Support Services and South West Water.
Regularly and accurately account for your activity and expenditure in accordance with
departmental procedures.
Support current/future recycling strategies within Operation Support Services.
Provide support outside of core hours as and when required.
