General
In very high voltage transmission lines, conductor bundles
are used for each phase to fulfil electrical requirements.
Spacing devices are installed on the bundles to maintain
subconductor separation. Elastic and damping elements
are introduced into the spacing devices for distributing the
damping effect along the spans, which prevents entrapment
of vibration between spacers and avoid bending stress at
the spacer clamps.

Key Data
PFISTERER SEFAG has been developing Spacer Dampers
since 1964 to provide proper damping of wind-induced
vibrations for bundled conductor lines. The modern Spacer
Dampers are characterized by an accurate coordination
between the inertial elastic and damping properties which
provides maximum effectiveness in controlling the levels
of subconductor motions within safety limits.

The good performance and effectiveness of the PFISTERER
SEFAG Spacer Dampers is proven by comprehensive performance tests and severe fatigue tests, performed in accordance with the IEC Standard 61854.
PFISTERER SEFAG performs a vibration damping study for
each specific project in order to determine the appropriate
type, the required quantity and correct placement of the
Spacer Dampers.
